  • New Covid Protocol - Vax or Neg Test required
Remember "15 days to slow the spread"? Now we're talking jab #4. Meanwhile, Sweden had no mass scale lockdown, and Denmark seems to be following suit.

You wrote: "2) Nobody has bothered to check if the program was actually implemented"

My understanding is that it is common practice and procedure at 7 or 8 UC campuses. It sounds like "DEI" is now primary over teaching or research excellence.

The Hill: What is UC Davis hiding about its use of diversity statements?

"In other words, UC Berkeley rejected 76 percent of qualified applicants without even considering their teaching skills, their publication history, their potential for academic excellence or their ability to contribute to their field. As far as the university knew, these applicants could well have been the next Albert Einstein or Jonas Salk, or they might have been outstanding and innovative educators who would make a significant difference in students' lives."

  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
Coach Sochor, Foster, Hamilton, Williams, Stewart and others loved the band.

A large contingent of the band traveled by van, to Kentucky, for the championship DII basketball game, during finals week.

Same commitment to the women's basketball team in North Dakota, where the band reportedly also played for numerous community groups (by request).

I believe HR was pulled, TT ran a long series of 100% run, DS moved the ball, and HR was put back in... and ran a few times when we had a large lead.

FWIW, I'm told LB stud Buchanan is only 18 years old.

The new band did - far easier - group jumping jacks after touchdowns late in the game. I guess that allows every gender to participate.

No one concerned that we brought back HR in the 4th in a blowout?
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
Dixie State. No 0 for DS, Jalen Powell, was impressive. 13 catches, 107 yards. Redshirt Frosh Tyrell Grayson has a monster game at DB with 15 solo tackles, 19 total.

Perryman had 6 tackles Mouisset 5. Venable and White had 2 interceptions each, and Algery McGuire had a strong game w 4 tackles, a pick and half a sack.

    Aggies 3 of 11 on 3rd and 4th down.

Great atmosphere. Nice new railings w shelf on end zone burms at walkway. Unsure about the new end zone special seating (chancellor, boosters?). Given at least one concession stand down, 2 more food trucks would help.

A good amount stayed past halftime, well into the 3rd quarter. A win is great, and Dixie possibly exposed areas that need attention. (Or were players fan focused?)

My sources told me before tipoff the goal was to get Gilliam 200 yards rushing. Not sure lopsided play calling beneficial.

Why return Hunter Rodriguez into the game late in the 4th quarter, and have him running??? Were we pissed that Dixie was chewing up our secondary w deep throws?

I didn't see progress in our backup QBs. TT ran keepers, and Miles Hastings had limited opportunity.

    Hastings - 0 for 1
    Tompkins - no pass attempts

TT 6 rushes for 63 yards.

    Cal wins 42 - 30.

Long concession lines expected, lack of staff: bring your own food and / or eat before.
  • Week 3 FCS games
18 point Hamilton HS comeback in about 1:10 over Bishop Gorman.

Dartmouth over Valparaiso by 6 at the half.
  • Jake Maier Sets CFL Record
Calgary Sun "Maier rewarded head coach Dave Dickenson for giving him the opportunity, too, completing 9-of-9 passes for 80 yards and getting the Stampeders into the end zone."

    Mitchell 16 - 28 - 1 INT
    Maier 9 - 9, 3 yds rushing, 1 TD rushing
  • Week 3: Dixie State at UC Davis
I hope for an injury free game for both sides, a convincing victory, and plenty of PT for QB #2 and maybe #3.

Is there any benefit at years end if we're ranked #5 instead of #8? Home field advantage?
  • Aggie Volleyball…
Sweet! Have we beaten them before?
  • FCS Polls Week 2
I'm having flashbacks to 2019 when we played Berkeley tough, played North Dakota tough (#1 / #1), came home to play Montana (#18?) with Jake Maier at QB... and we came out flat at game time. They dropped almost 40 points on us in 3 quarters and locked up our run game. Ugh.
  • FCS Polls Week 2
Great for the team and staff, but I hope we don't get overconfident.
  • UC Davis Baseball Team and Coaching Staff Suspended
I have posted articles from the Wall Street Journal and Forbes in the OT section outlining our new "diversity screening", where applicants are often rejected before academic and teaching merits are ever considered.

My input was relevant to the extended hiring process.

You can save the name calling for others. I brought receipts.

Receipts posted in the OT section.

WSJ Opinion: The University’s New Loyalty Oath
Required ‘diversity and inclusion’ statements amount to a political litmus test for hiring.

By Abigail Thompson (chair of the UC Davis math department)
    Dec. 19, 2019

"...Earlier this year, I was invited to submit an essay to the Notices of the American Mathematical Society, the most widely read journal in mathematics. I decided to express my view that these required statements have become political litmus tests, and that this should worry us all. My submission provoked an intense controversy—confirming that this has become a dangerously politicized issue...."

"...Many emails contained a disturbing theme, typified by this line from one of them: “Some day I, too, hope to speak out on this issue, but it is simply too dangerous at present.” This is a frightening sentiment to hear in academia. If expressing a widespread but controversial view is seen as taking a tremendous personal risk, the university system isn’t healthy. Ideas cannot thrive and mistakes cannot be corrected if people are afraid to speak out...."

"Mandatory diversity statements can too easily become a test of political ideology and conformity. “No political test shall ever be considered in the appointment and promotion of any faculty member or employee.” This fundamental principle, forged in one of the most difficult periods the UC system has ever endured, must not be abandoned. Two transfers had a big impact to on Saturday.

Graduate student Jaycee Smalley had 6 tackles to lead the team. The 232# LB came via UCLA.

Tysean White, a 6'2" 235# LB / Jr, had 2 tackles. He's a transfer from Navy. 12.5 sacks as a junior in HS, San Diego native.

If this game goes as planned, I hope to see:

    - an established run game
    - more time under center for QBs #2 & #3, not just late 4th Quarter.

    Go Ags.
