  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: UC Davis @ Eastern Washington v2.0
Congrats on your first playoff win yesterday and best of luck against EWU this week. Go Aggies!!!!
  • Week 9: Big Sky
We tried to give the game back to NAU. We score 38 unanswered points by mixing it up on offense (2 passing TDs and another long pass to the 1 yard line) and then got conservative and had to hang on. Our offense can be good when they are not so predictable.
  • Week 9: Big Sky
Cal Poly 28-7 at the half.

Nice win by the Aggies today. Congrats.
  • Week 9: UC Davis @ Montana
If Davis brings their A game this should be a W. Montana has talent and is well coached, but they have some big holes. Davis is a more complete team.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Davis is a complete team. Montana has holes. Should be an Aggie win.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Congrats on a nice win. Two programs going in completely different directions. Good luck the rest of the year and represent the Big Sky well in the playoffs.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Cal Poly football can not get a player in that meets the minimum CSU standard. They can get players in that are below the Cal Poly standard, but it is still way, way above the CSU standard. The problem is even if we or Davis could get in a player that meets the minimum CSU standard they would not be able to compete in the classroom and would more than likely flunk out.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Cal Poly has faced two of the better defenses in the FCS in NDSU and Weber State. I would say both are better than any defense the Aggies have faced with the exception of Stanford.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Hawk has brought an incredible amount of energy and buzz to Davis. He bleeds Aggie Pride and it shows.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
We know you have an All-American TE and 2 or 3 other WRs any team at this level would love to have. We also know you have a much improved running game and defense. We know we have to play a near perfect game and have a few breaks go our way to win. One can hope and it is a rivalry game where things don’t always go the way people expect.

If Davis gets up early or we turn over the ball it could be a long day. If on the other hand we can chew up the clock, score and keep the Aggie offense on the sideline for long periods we have a chance. Problem is that is a really BIG if.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
I do not expect a sellout with our record over the last two seasons, but if there is a Cal Poly football game that has any chance of selling out this season it will be this game. The Aggie fans will travel and they will bring their band. If the game is a dud the battle of the bands after the game should be good. It is also family weekend so that should also increase attendance. I just hope we can at least make a game of it.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
    Did. He just passed away.
  • FIRST IN BIG SKY
That is what makes even more impressive. Good teams find a way to win when they are not playing their best. The Aggies showed a lot of grit yesterday fighting back against a good ISU team. Congrats.
  • Week 8: Aggies @ Cal Poly
Contact extension was given after the 2016 season in which Cal Poly went to the playoffs (and got dumped by USD).

We have a FB and two SBs in most of the time. CPalum is just saying the play calling lacks imagination and more often than not is a dive by the fullback.
  • Week 5: BIg Sky
My hope is we would bring back a former OC that has moved on to the FBS. Some candidates are Saga Tuitele at New Mexico, Bryan Cook at Georgia Tech or Juston Wood at Georgia Southern.
  • Week 5: BIg Sky
I would say the vast majority of CP fans would like to move away from the Triple Option. I am not one of them.
  • Week 5: BIg Sky
The relevance is that our line is the smallest line in the Big Sky and it is not even close. We only throw 10 to 20 times a game and our smaller linemen are better suited to cut block than pass block. Taller linemen have longer arms and longer arms help keep D-linemen off them in pass blocking. Heavier linemen are less likely to get bull rushed pass blocking.

Also our Slot backs are typically smaller and rarely run between the tackles. They have the speed to get outside, but not the bulk to run between the tackles or pick up blitzing LBs in pass protection.
  • Week 5: BIg Sky
The biggest difference is the size of the OL. Going from Pro-Style to spread is not as big of a change for the OL as it is for them to go from the Triple Option to a Pro-Style or Spread. We do not have a single OL that is 6’6” or taller and only 3 at 6’5”. We have 11 OL listed at 6’3” or shorter (I bet that number is in reality is higher).
  • Week 5: BIg Sky
Unfortunately there has to be a change at Cal Poly. I like Tim Walsh and think he is a good coach, but he either needs to make changes on his staff or decide to retire.

I would love to see them bring Saga Tuitelle back as the new head coach. He is currently the run game coordinator/O-line coach at New Mexico. He would bring back some discipline that the program is lacking and he would keep the Triple Option which I think works at Cal Poly with the right OC.

Problem in bringing in a coach with a new offensive scheme is it would take 3 or 4 years to get in the right personnel to run it. I do not know if Cal Poly can afford 3 or 4 years to turn it around.
  • Week 5: BIg Sky
We hold Montana to a FG on their first drive and go down 3-0. We take our first drive past the 50 and went for it on 4th and 1. We do not get it and turn it over on downs. D hold Montana to 3 and out and they punt. Our punt returner decided to try to be a hero and jumped on a punt rolling around our 6 yard line and of course bobbles it and turns it over. Montana scores in 2 plays from to take a 10-0 lead. Our next drive we march alway to around the Montana 20 and the QB bounces off ball off our SB’s helmet and the ball bounce right into the hands of their LB who returns it for a TD to go down 17-0. We dug ourselves into to big of a hole and never got out.
