  • MEN'S WATER POLO
The Ags take on Harvard at 4:30 today at Spieker Pool at UC Berkeley in an NCAA championship play in game. Come check it out if you're in the Bay!! You can buy tickets at the gate.

Game will be on streaming as well.

If they win, they play USC in the semi on Saturday
  • BREAKING: Dan Hawkins to be named UC Davis head football coach
Seems like a great move by Blue! Clearly this has been in the works for some time (based on the timing). He dovetails nicely with what Blue laid out in terms of what he was looking for.

After years of watching a bumbling, slow moving school and athletic department, more than anything I am excited that there is a guy in charge who is moving fast and has the gravitas to get things done. it is the first time that UCD has seemed D1 in a long time. Time will tell if Hawkins works out, but I appreciate having a decisive leader in the athletic department. Definitely sends a message to the whole department, being successful is part of the deal in college athletics.
  • MEN'S WATER POLO
Yes, both of the Aggie water polo programs are representing well. Both have highly respected coaches and they play in a good facility. Hopefully the new team room gets funded soon, that will allow both teams the opportunity to take it to the next level.
Keep in mind the men's team only has one senior, so they will be a force next year as well!! The women are expected to be good this year as well!
  • MBB: Enough length to compete at the highest levels
Sochorfield...Totally agree, Ags just don't have enough length to compete at the highest levels. Adenrele and Henn are solid players, but against better competition they are giving up too much length inside.
  • WBB: Montana State @ UC Davis
The lady Ags look good so far, they play an exciting brand of basketball and seem to have the talent to contend in the Big West!
  • Coach Gould
The religious deal seems strange and a little off putting (at least to me)...just kind of out of place at UC Davis. I agree, strange that Teresa will be part of the next interview...

I'm sure Coach Gould will have plenty of opportunities as a running back coach, he is a proven commodity. His track record of producing NFL backs will translate well.
  • Coaching Candidates
Good list of people advising Blue. So far he seems to be making the right moves, let's hope that the actual coaching candidate is a good hire!
  • MBB vs Sac State
Good win. Decent crowd, but I hoped it would have been better. Good exposure for the program, hopefully some local basketball fans will be interested enough to come check out a home game!
  • BLUE: The Way Forward for UC Davis Football
Very good write up by Blue. I really liked the part about structural advantage. There was a long period where UCD had some significant advantages over their rivals, however this is clearly no longer the case. The results further prove this.
  • The State of UC Davis Football
With 20 seniors leaving and late in the recruiting cycle, the new guy is going to have to hit the JC's hard.
  • Coaching Candidates
Hopefully Blue has been working on a list for the last couple of months and can hit the ground running. The new coach is going to have to come in, hire a new staff and hit the recruiting trail quickly! Ash and Hawkins seem like they would be significant upgrades in terms of guys who have already built programs. I'm sure there are plenty of other guys out there to consider. We don't need a lifelong commitment from anyone, we just need someone to come in and turn this thing around.
