I like what they are doing with season tickets. I got the email this morning....

"New Alumni: 2016 grads and later $100"

"Section 126 Bartop seating $350 each"

Scary is right. This entire thing has been all over the place. To say this thing is on shaky ground is an understatement. We'll see how it all plays out I guess!

I like the more manageable geographical conference idea for the rest of us....And imagine what this could look like in 30 years.....

    10 years?
Also, I admit I didn't read the article (shame!)
  • Jon Wilner article on NCAA chaos
This is extreme, but,...at the present trajectory, and with no guardrails.....it feels like we are headed for a completely different college sports landscape within the next 5-10 years (?) *corrected per DrMike*:

DI - "Power 4" ACC, Big Ten, Big 12, and SEC (professional 'collegiate' athletes)
DII - Everyone else (scholarship / non-scholarship athletes)
DIII - Everyone who was DII

This would be near-destruction of traditional college athletics for the sake of the 4-conference-revenue-machine....unless someone steps in and does something

Culture! I'm sure it helps....NFL wants mature, prepared guys.
    Best of luck to Lan!

Cal fans (especially my old man) were worried every year Ott was at Cal that he'd transfer. Smart to earn his degree first.

So much portal activity over there.......like 30 dudes coming/going in the last month. Most recently more guys leaving.....

I totally get your point. Its a good one and I don't disagree with you.
Do I personally believe Sac State is a "victory at all costs" scenario? Probably.

I've always had a great admiration for the culture of the Davis football program. The continuity of it over the years is incredible and to be respected. Its clearly a very difficult thing to uphold such high standards year after year. Some or most programs can never get there: "win or lose, we are doing it right" type of thing.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
    True.

What can also be true is that a young man who has had some issues but honestly wants to earn a degree should be able to use his athletic ability to help make that happen. Its up to the HC and University to decide if these young men have the best intentions....definitely not aggiesporttalk.com  Does this scenario give Sac State the benefit of the doubt that this isn't a "victory at all costs" scenario? Yes.

If Marion can get these guys to work as a unit on the field/film room/locker room and get the job done in the classroom, the sky is the limit. I've said it before- this is a huge undertaking.

Learned something new tonight: "Montucky" never heard the term, surprisingly. Montucky Cold Snacks might have to make an appearance at the next tailgate....
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Its a good burn, but you and everyone know about FCS Playoff attendance issues.....South Dakota drew 6,100 for our semi.

I'm sure Sac wasn't particularly happy with attendance in their last two home playoff games either (9k and 13k in a 22k seat stadium). Both less than the Davis game the week prior 23,074 (as usual, your welcome :D).

With that said, I don't think any fans in the Big Sky (besides UM and MSU) should be talking sh*t about attendance (especially fluky spring game stuff)
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Anything over 1,000 for a Spring game is substantial in these parts. So, whether it was 3,000 or 7,000 doesn't matter. IMO.
Sac residents (high school students/players) are curious about what's going on with Sac football. The real test is whether all the big plans happen resulting in these interested people becoming fans. People (especially the HS athlete crowd) want the "real deal."

This is a good sign for the level of interest for FBS football in this area. Also, I have yet to see a photo that shows 7,000 people......
