Thanks, I should brush up on my computer scholoarship.
  • 2018-19 Causeway Cup
Ags defeated Hornets in beach volleyball today, 4-1. Running Causeway Cup score is now 52.5 to 17.5 and we got rid of the pesky decimal problem. Next event is mens' golf next weekend at El Macero.

    Go Ags!

This is actually the 7th year that they have had beach volleyball. They play in the Big West (as does CSU-Bakersfield) (Surprise to me as I looked at the Big West website - UCSB does NOT have beach volleyball.) Hornets are struggling this year with a 1-12 record.

Aggie women defeated Sac, 5-2, in tennis today at Sac. That's nice because since UCD clinched this year's Cup three weeks ago the Hornets have won in baseball and in women's golf. Current score is 50.83 - 17.5. Next up is beach volleyball at Sac's "home" court in Folsom this coming Friday, the 5th. It would be nice to win that and clear up some of this annoying decimal point mess. Over the weekend Davis defeated Sac in beach volleyball in a non-Causeway event at the Big West Challenge in San Luis Obispo.

And sometimes just on the roster, not even on the team.
  • WBB NCAA Tournament
Thanks...I watched the end of that game and then switched to watch the end of the UCI-KSU game. A cousin in Iowa City was at the game. I did not hear from her until late in the evening indicating she was finally able to breathe. Mercer came to play. Iowa better wake up.

Now onto even more important games, Go Ags!

Way to go UCI!! 70-64 win over Kansas State!!
  • WBB NCAA Tournament
Iowa is my back-up power five team....and right now #15 Mercer is giving the #2 Hawkeye women a game in Iowa City. This is NOT the 15 over 2 upset I want in this tournament.
  • MBB Big West Conference Tounament March 14-16
As I recall NC Central finished their season something like third in their conference and had to pull an upset or two in the conference tournament.

Bison following our footsteps. Beat North Carolina Central in a play-in game, and for their efforts they get Duke.
  • WBB NCAA Tournament
    Remember 2005-2006!!:
    Men’s Soccer: UC Davis 1, Stanford 0
Football: UC Davis 20, Stanford 17
    Men’s Basketball: UC Davis 64, Stanford 58
Wrestling: UC Davis 38, Stanford 6
Baseball: UC Davis 3, Stanford 0; UC Davis 8, Stanford 3
  • The Fate of the Grad
Out of the mall and out of Davis, like Nation's Giant Hamburger.

Didn't the Grad try to run a place just across the river from Sac State many, many years ago? As I recall is was at the eastern end of the Baby Golden Gate pedestrian bridge in Campus Commons...a residential condominium community...combine that with a commuter campus and it was a long shot at best.
  • Former Sac State Coach Behind New College Admissions Fraud Case
The more I read about Olivia Jade Gianulli, the more I think that the Kardashians are women of great intellect and substance.

It's also good for bench morale, and good sportsmanship.

Some of these schools must have two tracks; a serious student track, and a pay-as-you-go track. Upon completion of which ever track they pursue the former should get actual diplomas and the latter can just get participation certificates.

I see that the Gianulli sisters have "withdrawn" from USC. Probably had someone fill out the withdrawal forms, or tweeted them.
  • Former Sac State Coach Behind New College Admissions Fraud Case
I have always wondered what happens to people who get a boost like this to get into an elite college...you have a gimmick to get into a tough school, now how do you survive? How do you stay afloat at an Ivy League school when the only way you got in was parents' money, bribes, people taking your SATs for you...Same thoughts come up with so many stories about scholarship athletes. And how will they make it after college? (That is, if there's not a job waiting for you as VP in charge of coffee and social media at parent's corporation.....but I digress.)

(...though I am not sure we ought to be wondering about a second game after the results of the first one...)
  • 2018-19 Causeway Cup
I pulled the entry below from the baseball thread. Goags20172 noted the confusion. I imagine both teams are running around trying to find games and blanks in their schedules to make up for missed games in a rainy winter.

As I recall, last year's softball game was never made up after a weather "postponement."

    "Goags20172
That was the impression I got as well. When Sac State added a Sunday game against Marge Simpson College the press release said it was to replace the rained out game against UCD. Then they cancelled that game due to rain that never happened. UCD may not make up the Santa Clara game either. They made it difficult to do sp by adding extra games against UOP and USF."
  • 2018-19 Causeway Cup
More new math. Yesterdary the UCD Causeway website showed UCD with 43.33 points. Add 2.5 for the softball win and this morning the score is 45.84. We need to win the third and final beach volleyball match with its 1.33 points to resolve my inner obsessive-compulsive disorder...I hope.

And the site is inconsistent on whether the postponed baseball game from the last week of February will be made up. As of this morning it is showing 2.5 pts for yesterday's game with a game to be made up. Yesterday morning it was showing 5 pts for yesterday's game.

"Consistency is the hobgoblin of small minds."
  • 2018-19 Causeway Cup
Based on the UCD Causeway Cup site, women's golf added an event last week. Sac came in first and UCD fourth at the Gunrock Invitational to move the current score to UCD 43.33, CSUS 12.5.

Also, the website is listing 5 points for the UCD at CSUS baseball game on March 12th, suggesting that the earlier rain-out game has gone from "postponed" to "cancelled."
