Blew them out in 2018 in the Reno game. Hawk is 0-2 against Taylor, 2019 and 2021. No game in 2020. Throw in 2017 and he's 1-3.

I could never figure out why he would leave a job as OC at Utah to take over at Sac, which at the time was a FCS program on the ropes. He has a young family and the stability here is worth something. He is a hometown guy. He has done what few Sac coaches have done and that is recruit successfully in the Sac area. He has great contacts with the local HS coaching community. Offers will come his way. The tangibles would say leave...the intangibles might say stick around.

    But I digress....

I think Colorado State could use a guy like Taylor.

I think the one school that could lure Taylor is Cal, but the Bears aren't likely to get rid of Wilcox anytime soon.
  • Doss to NY Giants
The Calgary Stampeders have announced that Keelan Doss is on their negotiation list.

“CFL by-laws state that teams can claim exclusive CFL rights for up to 45 players by placing them on their negotiation lists. Players can be added, removed or traded from the lists at any time.”

  • Calgary resigns The Mayor
I assumed so also. The conversion app on my phone says $120,000 Canadian is about $92,000 US.
  • Calgary resigns The Mayor
Do you know if that's US dollars? If it's Canadian dollars it's less than $100,000 US.

Unfortunately for Doss, he's not on a practice squad at the moment.

Good luck to both of them (and Daniel Whelan.)
  • Calgary resigns The Mayor
Maier is now the starter for Calgary.
  • Week 2: UC Davis (0-1) @ South Dakota State (0-1)
I've said too often that I am a Hawkeye by genetics and place of birth....Iowa's football team is terrible this year. Third year starting QB still overthrows recievers, throws more interceptions than TD's, the list goes on. Iowa State ran a 99 yeard precision drive downfield yesterday for the go ahead score. Five third down conversions. Iowa missed a FG at the end that would have tied the game, though to be fair it was raining. That's not to discredit the Jacks' performance of a week ago, but this is not the Iowa of the past few years. Highly unlikely that Iowa extends its consecutive streak of bowl appearances. The annual Iowa-Nebraska game could decide who is last in the Big "Ten" West. Nebraska's current coach may be a distant memory by then.
  • Week 2: UC Davis (0-1) @ South Dakota State (0-1)
I am not sure just how much that Iowa game tells anyone about the Jackrabbits or the Hawkeyes. Both offenses struggled. Iowa was particularly bad on the day... (as an Iowa fan I certainly hope that was a particularly bad showing.)
  • Causeway Cup (?) 2022-23
Aggies defeated Sac in volleyball this afternoon in a match played in Davis. Score was 3-1 (25-20, 25-27, 25-16, 25-22)

Causeway score is now UCD 7.5, CSUS 2.5.

Next event is men's soccer on October 29 at Sac.

This is a rough schedule of rebroadcasts. I did this kind of hurriedly and can't vouch for the accuracy. I have Comcast in Sacramento.

There is a two hour re-broadcast on Pac 12 Bay Area starting at 6:00 AM on Monday and again at 4:00 PM that day.

There are "Pac 12 in 60" rebroadcasts at 5:00 PM on Monday on the Pac12 Network and again at 8:00 AM on Tuesday.

There are "Pac 12 in 60" rebroadcasts on Pac 12 Bay Area on Monday at 6:00 PM, 9:00 PM and Midnight, on Tuesday at 3:00 AM, 6:00 AM, 1:00 PM, 6:00 PM, 9:00 PM and on Wednesday at 5:00 AM.

Again, check your guides. I am not vouching for the accuracy of my note taking or the legibility of my hand scratched notes.
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
Obviously he can, and the network hired him, but his post-collegiate football career was known for poor on-field performances, locker room meltdowns, legal troubles including drug problems and reported domestic violence issues.

Good luck to him. He probably faces struggles every day that most of us can’t imagine.

The UI vs WSU game played out like many FCS vs FBS games. FCS team starts out well, even has a lead and then somewhere in the second quarter the FBS team settles down and size, speed, depth kick in. Cougars won, but Vandals gave them a game.
  • Potential FCS over FBS games
I'm all for giving people second chances, but why is Ryan Leaf broadcasting a game for the Pac-12 network?

Still not used to thinking of this as FCS vs FBS, but Idaho just went ahead of Wazzou on a TD off of a fumble recovery in a game being played in Pullman.

This is the third year for the Iowa QB, Petras. He's from Marin Catholic where he broke some of former Cal QB Jared Goff's school records. Iowa had QB issues last year and one of the reserves left the team after an ill-considered comment in a press conference by Iowa's head coach. Petras has never lived up to his reports. I guess he's a better practice player than a gamer. Ferentz is sticking with him.

I am an Iowa fan by birth and genetics. I can understand the fans' frustration. I won't defend booing your team.

Waving at the children in the Children's hospital started in 2017. That was an empty field way back in the day when I grew up in Iowa City. My parents had a long connection with the Iowa medical school and I was born in the hospital on campus. I wish my father had lived long enough to see the wave. He passed away in June of that year. He'd be a blubbering black & gold mess if he saw it.

  • Week 1: UC Davis (0-0) @ Cal (0-0)
A little late on the uptake here, but I get Comcast in Sacramento and the on-screen guide has the game being broadcasted on Pac-12 Bay Area.

As does a press release on the Davis website: https://ucdavisaggies.com/news/2022/8/30/uc-davis-football-heads-to-cal-for-season-opener.aspx

I don't know about game time, but I just looked at a weather app and the predicted high for Berkeley on Saturday is 85. Meanwhile Slack State just moved their Saturday kick-off from 6:00 to 7:30 in light of the predicted heat wave this weekend.
