Just my 2 cents: When Jeff Tedford was at Cal he made it a major point to upgrade the football facilities. I don't remember the details, but he pushed it to make the Bears more competitive in his recruitment efforts, to get more fans, etc. He got what he wanted, but now Tedford is long gone and the Cal football program is still mediocre.

    So are Cal’s facilities.

I think that is an interesting point. I remember knowing some folks who worked on renovations at cal and to this day still scratch my head at some of those decisions. I really do wonder with programs like cal and Stanford how their football teams will look in 20 years or so, especially with all this NIL stuff but their limited success/high academic rigor. Andrew luck has me really curious. I think cal is but a hard comparison considering with a renovation we would also be moving from a FCS conference to an FBS conference, which comes with a whole slew of other factors beyond facilities

Are you talking about the massive debt? ("scratch my head at those decisions".)

Cal got an incredible remodel, wide concourses, a new athletic performance facility, historic preservation, unmatched scenic views, and they still haven't turned the corner. BTW, their admission standards are way below ours, and they supposedly have lightweight majors like Recreation Mgmt.
