Bummer...he did a great job at LB after Teddye Buchanan left.

Its a mystery that Davis can’t list players eligibility kon the roster, it takes a glance to do so in most cases.
Another mystery is why we have multiple players who are listed as playing 5 games in what could be a redshirt year. Nava, Souriolle, Fisher. Can’t they count?

I asked about some of the mistakes on, for example the game notes, at the lunch with coach on Wednesday. One of the guys sitting near me said that all that content is generated by AI. Maybe the eligibility data is also generated by AI.

They list by academic year mostly ignoring redshirt status. The exception to that are the upper classmen who had a redshirt year a few years ago already reflected in their bio, and some transfers.

But they also have a data entry problem, they officially submit a “Final Book” which the NCAA, Big Sky, and other entities use as the statistics source, and that “Final Book” contains errors. Then they have difficulty correcting the errors, as they don’t control the stats, the NCAA does. I think that is the issue with the guys who were listed as playing in five games in their red shirt year.

New offer on 3 star DL Tyler Parker! 20+ offers. I don't know, this one seems like a Hail Mary offer... dude has offers from the likes of Miami, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss.

Pretty sure this is the last offseason of confusion due to the COVID year. I think the conditions to get another year of eligibility for '20 HS grads would be: (1) they took a redshirt year sometime between '21-'24 and (2) they get accepted into a grad program.

I'd speculate that getting into a grad program is the big wild card (especially at Davis). I'm not sure if there are any grad program admissions considerations for athletes, and I wonder about the timing for acceptance.

For example - have any class of '20 seniors applied to a grad program and don't know whether they'll get in? If so, would they have walked just in case? The uncertainty around grad school admission could explain Povey being around last spring but not Fall and also the late additions to this year's roster like Meyer.

There is the option of another quarter of undergrad. Maybe satisfy another major’s requirements. Lots of student take extra time, particularly if they transferred or change majors.

Not a Hail Mary. Those power 4’s aren’t committable offers (we live in an unsavory world). There’s a reason for this late offer.

How many guys on the cusp go to a big program, and are buried on the roster?

We had several during and after the Coach Gould years that went to "big" programs, and were never heard from again. Buried on the depth chart, passed over by the new 4- or 5-star recruit, then change position when they don't get PT.

True, but none of those guys were approaching 4* status. Even using 247’s flawed system most of the top ranked players that have committed to Davis during the modern era never started a game. Ranking high school kids is impossible.

Huge commitment! 3 star DB Drew Cofield has committed to the Aggies! Per 247 this is the highest rated player that has ever committed to UC Davis (not counting transfers)!

    16 Commits, 4 QBs, 4 WR, 3 LBs, no O linemen yet.

Will this be a big class?

For context, 247 has Cofield as the highest rated ATH currently committed to a FCS team.

So unless Grant Harper graduates, we'll have 8 QBs on the roster next year?

    Jr - Harper
    So - Rasor
    Fr - Pinnick
    Fr - Wrighster

    Four 2024 commits.

    Four 2014 commitsmovielover

I think our 2014 commits might have run out of eligibility by now. Lol.

Yes, I know you meant 2024 but I had to make the joke.

Sac finds a way to get guys with questionable eligibility....

Do Causeway wins sway Sac region players who are FCS level or High DII (walk-ons)? I know Poly is more our competitor but I don't follow recruiting much. Is it common for players to choose between Davis and Sac?

Not so much for us because of our academic requirements. Anyone who we offer could also get into Sac but not everyone that Sac offers would meet our academic requirements. Sac can cast a wider net whereas ours is more limited so we don't really compete head-to-head much. Sac also utilizes the portal more than we do.
