The $1000 dollar donor count hits home. Football means more in Missoula as a whole in the community, in Davis it matters moreso to anybody who is and was involved with the program I've found over the years. There are still high end donors that give more than $1000, as there are at all other programs as well, but yeah, if you're succeeding and you want to see Davis as a perennial contender in the Big Sky, we have to compete on a financial level.
Thought Plough being definitive about who's the Quarterback for this Aggie team is really important. We go as Miles Hastings goes - and by proxy offensively - so goes Lan.
Great episode guys. I agree with what you guys said and what others have said here that it feels a little bit different with how definitive everything is with Plough. There's no shroud of mystery which is a little bit refreshing. Something I find interesting is that Plough has brought up Dixon numerous times in pressers and with you guys as his most improved recruit. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets involved in the receiving game and do we ever need that big body receiver.
No mystery in his goals too. Win a chip. Mitchell Dixon was with the 1’s in practice yesterday. Big athletic guy. Dropped a pass but made a couple other plays too. He’s going to be used as another impact TE with Gale. That position group is DEEP. Along with a few others.
Looking forward to hearing more about what you guys saw at practice. I always appreciate any insights I can get. Getting out to Davis from Florida is just a little bit of a trip to watch a scrimmage
Once a week is a great pace. Are you planning, or do both of you even have time to do some kind of Sunday post-game show during the season? Along with a weekday drop.
Ah, good point. Yeah, I've never gone through the process of conducting a weekly hour long Podcast - I imagine we'll all learn a bit about your schedule and how it shakes out to maintain the sucker.
Thankfully, maintaining a Forum isn't too difficult. Occasionally, we do get a free radical doing some crazy posting, but for the vast majority of a time, we're a bunch of happy little Aggies talking ball. The fundraiser's once a year around Thanksgiving/Christmas, and everybody's so good about contributions that we're usually done within 5 days. Last winter we exceeded our goal and are ahead of schedule for 2025.
New episode with the full camp update is out today for those who haven’t listened yet. We interview Scott Gordon on Thursday night for next weeks Cal preview. Anything you’d like us to ask him or wanna hear it next week preview let us know!
Another awesome episode! It'll be interesting to see how Stacy Dobbins gets involved in the offense. Roster measurements are sometimes... maybe a little embellished and he's listed as 5'6 150, but as they say... speed kills.
In terms of the Cal preview, I think the biggest thing is just how do we win this game. The odds aren't great, but a pathway has to exist. Personally I think the biggest thing is shutting Ott down. He's the dude that's going to make that offense run. The d line just has to be ready for the size and speed of Cal. We can't let what happened against Oregon State happen again.
I just got back from visiting relatives in Indiana and Michigan and I just finished listening to the interview with Plough and the interview with Zach Kennedy. I gotta say guys, you're knocking it out of the park. These interviews are outstanding and I'm getting more amped up for the season with each interview you release. Great job!
Great job with the podcast Brock and Dwight! I’m a longtime lurker but fired up for the 2024 Football season. Really enjoyed the episodes with Lan and Zach. Keep up the good work.
Would be interested to hear an outside perspective on Davis and Aggie football from new transfers who will be making an immediate impact. Based on the last full scrimmage (not counting one from today), sounds like Meyer, Mirabella, and Rodriguez? will be contributing the most out of all incoming transfers. (Am I missing anyone?)
Mirabella stands out to me as he had significant playing time at bigger school that is known for their running backs. As well as having bigger opportunities while in the portal and why he chose Davis.
Checking the roster now (updated headshots posted today), and interestingly enough, Meyer, Mirabella, and Villarreal are all listed out of Mission Viejo HS (SoCal powerhouse football program). Would be neat to hear more on that.
Also players Tyson McWilliams and Blake Antzoulatos who both played defense at Cal and are now here. Their thoughts on Davis, Plough, and Week 1? Any news on McWilliams? He was committed very early on… haven’t heard much since. Got updates on Blake from most recent episode.
We have a solid team… lots of returning starters and the missing holes filled in by transfer portal. Excited to continue listening to the podcast and checking in on the forums
Thank you all! We have requested an interview with David Meyer…Hoping to have some alumni on episodes in near future as well. JT O’ Sullivan has been listening to the POD as well!
Can anyone point me to any reporting on that scrimmage that highlighted Mirabella and Rodriguez?
To get a transfers view of Davis why not talk to Simonson and Shamburger who have played major roles here last year after transferring in the summer. Simonson needs the recognition as he isn’t credited with any olaying time after starting every game due to a jersey number mixup. The kid must be among the most humble on the team not to have complained about that. Interesting story finished third In Nebraska at his weight class in high school wresting, never played in a game until he started here.
Loved the Kennedy interview, my very close cousin lives up in Sammamish now and like ZK said, it's miserably grey and wet in the winter time, but still a beautiful, green, lush place...and they play some very good football in the area. Recent notables include OLB Myles Jack, FS Budda Baker, OL David DeCastro, OL Stephen Shilling
We might play around with having a live audience on future episodes. Anyone interested, please let me know and we can send the link. Maybe have an open time for questions from fans/ alumni, etc.
