Over the last few years David and Harvard have developed quite a rivalry in men's water polo. They played each other in season openers this morning at the Bruno Classic at Brown. Unfortunately the Crimson won, 15-14. Next up is M.I.T. in an afternoon game at the same event....
Aggies finished the Bruno Tournament with convincing wins over host, Brown, 18-6, and over St. Francis of Brooklyn, 10-4. Can't rest on any laurels though as they host No. 3 Cal this Thursday evening.
Wow, almost lost my after dinner snack...banner at athletic website suggests tonight's water polo score was UCD 13, Cal 10. (Or it did a few minutes ago.) Unfortunately that was an error and the actual score was Mother Campus 13, University Farm 10. Still a 3 goal loss to the Golden Bears is a small accomplishment in itself. Hopefully the team can build on that and improve over the season.
Water polo score from Stanford: Stanford 13, UCD 10. A loss to be sure, but with each season we are doing better against the big four water polo schools.
Aggie mens' water polo finished the regular conference water season two weeks ago with close matches against visiting LMU and UCSD. Aggies edged the Lions, but fell to the Tritons for a 6-1 conference record. The following week they closed the regular season with an upset 12-7 home victory over UOP. That strong finish has carried through to this weekends WWPA conference tournament in Fresno. Ags won their quarter final match with a 19-6 win over Concordia University, Irvine and today they defeated LMU in a semi-final game, 17-8. The Aggies will meet UCSD in the final match tomorrow. The Ags and Tritons will meet in the conference final for what must be the (large number here) straight time. The winner gets the conferences bid to the NCAA Championship Tournament.
