The Aggies are unbeaten in conference play and they have a big target on their backs as a result. The Ags were favored to win the conference before the season and they have been living up to that prediction so far. UCSB, like all the other conference teams, want nothing more than to beat the Aggies. The Ags beat Gauchos in SB 68-61 just 10 days ago in a game that was closer than the score indicates.
The Aggies are a veteran, poised team that has found a variety of ways to win this year and are currently ranked as the #8 in the mid-major rankings. They have had some breakdowns with too many turnovers lately but have managed to overcome those errors and still win the game. The Gauchos have small, quick guards and I expect that they will try and harass the Aggies with pressure defense.
Morgan Bertsch has been stellar for the Aggies all season and she'll be matched up with UCSB's 6'4 post Drew Edelman. This will be a classic battle between two post players with very different styles. Bertsch is slight and quick with remarkable spin moves in the paint. Edelman is big and strong and she'll be using her size to try and keep Morgan of balance. It will be fun to watch this battle.
This is the first game of the double header with the Aggie men playing Cal Poly in the second game at 5 pm. Fans can see both games for the price of one ticket. That's a real bargain for a whole afternoon of good college basketball. Get your family and friends out to the Pavilion and support these two great Aggie basketball teams.
Ags trailed at the half 32-29 after being out rebounded 19-6. Then we trailed by one one going into the 4th quarter, kept our poise, played good defense, survived an onslaught of 3’s by SB and got win #17 69-63. Great ball game.
