My coworker went to SDSU and was at the game with his family. I predicted 73-6. Not too far off!

I watched most of the Sac - Eastern Michigan game. Sac's offense largely looked pretty dang bad outside of a couple nice runs by a freshman RB. There was just no identity at all on that side of the ball. They scored their only offensive TD with about 8 minutes to go in the 4th quarter. They got 7 points off of a strip sack return for a touchdown. Eastern Michigan was projected to be pretty middle of the pack of the MAC and they handled Sac without too much trepidation or difficulty. I don't think the Hornets looked particularly FBS in quality.

Unless they figure out what they want to do on offense, they could be looking at a 1-2 win season.

Its the first game in a new divison. I thought they played as expected. The transition to FBS takes years. Give it 4 games then start evaluating the team.

Just like us, we looked awful in the first half against a poor team. It happens. But good teams figure out a way to win and Coach did a great job leading the team to victory. Not to say SACST will be anything, but their kids in the end, and I say just give them some grace.

Lol I will not give Sac State grace. Not after all their jawing of how they were FBS ready and going to run the MAC. They had a defensive TD (can't count on those every game) and a garbage time TD. It wasn't good and they opened themselves to that criticism after how they acted over the last year.

Eh, we are FCS. We don't have much room to talk, becuase honestly if we played Eastern Michigan we lose to. But I get what your saying!

The way I see it is you are either FBS and have to accept everything that comes with that or you are not. Sac State is FBS and they did not play well against a conference opponent and that's really it.

Massey ratings have Sac as the 3rd worst team in FBS and Eastern Michigan ranked at 106 after the win against the Hornets. Not a power team by any means.

For what it's worth a team that did look FBS ready in NDSU whooped on Jacksonville State in their FBS debut.

Well that's easy to say when most of the roster is brand new. I mean don't make me defend SACST but its going to take a least 4 years. to geet the right FBS bodies in the program to really do anything. NDSU is a multiple national champion that has been building for decades. Not a good comparison. If we ever move to FBS it will be bloody for us too. Just saying.

It's a great comparison, both programs said they were FBS ready. If you need to build for half a decade after making the transition, maybe you weren't ready to transition. You can defend Sac State if you want to, but if they have a horrendous season it's entirely on them. Excuses are just that... excuses. I think Sac State football is more likely to implode as a program than succeed in FBS over the course of the next 4 years.

Does Sac have the facilities to recruit?
Does Sac have the history to recruit?
Can Sac promise stability to recruits?
Is Sacs recent revenue sharing & NIL funds going to sustain itself through two win seasons?
With most teams gearing up revenue sharing what is Sac’s competitive advantage in recruiting for the years it takes to build?

Sac moving up a level to escape competition is why they went scholarship and left the FWC. Now they’ve done it again. They spent 25 million to get rid of the FCS label, money that could have been used to establish a solid program where they were.

I think Conklin is just okay. He was great vs us a couple years back, but he led the Big Sky in turnovers that season. I think after last season’s QB debacle, their fan base saw him as the return to Causeway Conklin.

I think Sac State was smart to move up when they did. It’s better to get into the party and then figure it out. I don’t think Davis will be as bad as Sac State when we move to FBS. Davis is one of the top teams in the FBS the last couple of years… SAC State was a mid team in the FBS.

I don’t expect SAC State to build a new stadium. I predict they will play their home games at the new Rail yards stadium. They can build a new practice facility where their stadium is now.

Davis has been doing a better job getting ready for the FBS Jump. We have a good practice facility, and are preparing a stadium renovation. There are a lot of admin improvements that need to be made.

One thing that needs to happen is getting an NIL collective together for Davis.

Yikes! I hope not. Listen, I'm all Aggie but I don't want to see SACST fold. Those are valuable scholarships for our kids. Thats an interesting take.

I'm not rooting for the demise of Sac State, but I think they are way over their skis on this. The amount of "fake it til you make it" they are doing only works if you do finally get some success. They may not get 4-5 years to "figure it out". If wins and return on investment aren't there and the casinos pull their money they are super screwed.

I can understand projections, but the fact remains they decided to do something and they did it. I think its great they are being proactive. I'm pretty sure they recognize they are not USC, but at the same time if they kept the status quo they were going to lose the program anyway, so why not take a shot?

What can I say, I'm die hard American optimist. I've always said, a good SACST team only helps Davis in the big picture. Rivalries are the heartbeat of good football and we have a natural one. That is pretty rare. While I don't root for them obviously, I'm not rooting for failure either.
