Hoping to regroup after a frustrating loss to Santa Barbara, the now 4th place Aggies host the Mustangs this Saturday. The Ags continue to be led by Ryann Bennett (16.8) ppg, Nya Epps (12.7), Megan Norris (11.9), and Avery Sussex (11.0). Norris’ 11.5 rpg by far leads the conference, with Tegan Young adding 4.1 boards a contest . Davis puts up 69 ppg, and holds opponents to 63.
Cal Poly ranks near the bottom of the conference both offensively (59 ppg), and defensively (73 ppg). This despite featuring the #2 scorer in the Big West, Vanessa McManus (15.6), supported by Charish Thompson. McManus, Thompson and Nora Perez each gather about 5 boards a game).
Head coach Shanele Stires’ teams at her previous stop, D2 Cal State East Bay, routinely played the Aggies tough whenever they were on the schedule. Regardless of the record, UCD needs to come out ready to play on Saturday. And hopefully the Ags shooting woes on Thursday won’t return to plague them against the Mustangs.
