As with the Beach and Cal Poly this year, the Matadors had a new coach last year in Andy Newman. He was an immediate success giving the Beach their first winning season in 15 years. Even newer is their backcourt with Scotty Washington (3.7 ppg) and P. J. Fuller (3.5 apg). The top returning players are forwards Keonte Jones a 6’6” senior, who leads CSUN in every category including minutes per game, and Mahmoud Fofana his frontcourt team-mate. The best newcomer there is Marcus Adams Jr., a 6’8”, redshirt transfer from BYU. Those five are pretty much the Beach’s regular starters as they all average over 20 minutes a game.

The Mats have pretty much beaten the teams they should have beaten and lost to the teams they should have lost to, however, they’re 5-1 at home. Their one loss being to UC Riverside.
After 14 games this season they are averaging 82.4 ppg while holding opponents to only 70.8. On Thursday, they crushed Fullerton on the road 95-65. This is going to be a tough one for the Aggies. As ever, the game will be on ESPN+.
