There has always been a feeling among many Aggie fans that a school with the size and prestige of UC Davis should someday be at the FBS level. Well, the possibility of that happening sometime in the future just got a whole lot more difficult:

The Division I Council adopted new membership requirements for Football Bowl Subdivision schools and also the cost to transition into the FBS.

The football attendance requirement at FBS schools has been eliminated and replaced with a scholarship requirement. And a hefty increase in the fee to transition from FCS to FBS has been implemented.

The fee to transition from FCS to FBS has increased from $5,000 to $5 million, effective immediately.
