DAVIS, Calif. —
UC Davis is getting some big recognition as the campus has been ranked among the best in the country and the world for several fields.
The 2022 QS World University Rankings put UC Davis at number one for veterinary medicine, agriculture and forestry. It's number two in the world for both of those subjects. The rankings were released on Wednesday.
The campus ranked 43rd in the world and tied for 18th in the country in life sciences and medicine.
The university had top 50 world rankings in six other subjects as well, and top 20 national rankings in eight.
“I’m proud that UC Davis continues to be recognized for the world-class education it provides as well as for the impact of its research and service," Chancellor Gary May said in a release.
The university rankings cover a total of 51 subjects that are grouped into five broader areas.
The rankings are compiled annually and consider the university's academic reputation, employer reputation, research citations per paper, H-index – which QS says measures the "productivity and impact of the published work of a scientist or scholar," and finally for the first time this year it looks at the International Research Network Index – which "reflects the ability of institutions to diversify the geography of their international research network by establishing sustainable research partnerships with other higher education institutions."
More than 1,500 universities across the world are analyzed.
