    Went through an update for the upcoming 3 seasons. Looks like we've got a home and home with Texas A&M-Commerce lined up now for the '23 and '24 seasons. When was the last time UC Davis played in Texas? For those wondering, Commerce is an hour and a half drive east of Dallas-Fort Worth.

    San Diego fills in for another home game this fall, and we actually have 6 home games scheduled for the 2024 season. Can't remember the last time UC Davis had 6 home games, feels like the DII days.

    Looks like tx commerce is a D2 program. I find it strange that we schedule an away game that far across the country with a D2 school.

    I don't like scheduling a D2 team at all. Nothing to gain and a lot to lose. You can bet that any D2 Texas team will be no walkover also. Football is right up there with God in popularity in Texas.

    I like the Cal openers. It's too bad there aren't still four UCs playing football. Reading back through the band's historical files, we found out that there used to be an all-UC doubleheader held at Cal where UCSB and Davis would play and then Cal/UCLA would be the nightcap. Big four-band halftime show and all that jazz...

    I recall Sochor saying that he was concerned about rumors that UCSB was going to move it's then D-3 football program to D-2. As he said, once a recruit visits Santa Barbara we'll never get him to Davis.

    Commerce Texas, with a student population of 12,000 in a rural town of under 10,000 you can imagine the students dominate the town, a quarter of the residents are between age of 18-24. Back in the 70s Davis was limited to 18,000 students so as to not overwhelm the town of somewhere around 30,000 residents.
