I forget who wrote it, butI think someone on this site noted that UC Davis will not be eligible for the NCAA tournament even if they win the Big West tournament. They need to have played 25 Div. 1 games and after tomorrow, they will only have played 22. Is that correct? If so, does that mean that the leagues tournament game do not count? If they do, UCD will have played 25.
(25 games with tourney counting as one). However there's a case-by-case waiver process. I would hope that UCD has already done everything possible to secure such a waiver and it would be weird to keep fans in the dark about it if the AD did/has not going into the tournament.
The site that Zander posted states that the window for waivers was from Feb. 14-25, so UC Davis would have had to apply for a waiver two weeks ago. I would think they would have announced such an appeal? If they did appeal (and why wouldn't they?), maybe they are waiting for an answer. I imagine that the players would be much more motivated if they knew they had a shot at the big dance. What the last two games of the season showed me was that this team is capable of beating any team in the conference if they playing as well as they can.
The good old 8:30 tip off! It seems like we always have weird start times in the tournament. 5 1/2 point favorites. We really stunk back them the one time we played - hopefully chalk it up to COVID rustiness. Their big win over Irvine was a surprise. Let’s hope we rise up and get to Thursday
Wish I was there! I might have to take a nap before tip off. As Mike said, we did not play well at SLO, but it certainly feels like we are in a better mode right now. Hopefully Pepper and Milling can both find their 3 point stroke early.
first time around, they were lights out in the first half taking a 37-27 lead. they shot 56% from the field, 57% from 3 in the first half, while we struggled with 36/22%. second half we even though we were fouling down the stretch. Need to get off to a good start tonight and get our shooters going. Anigwe had 20 which would be nice to repeat. Poly isnt a great shooting team (40%) and turn the ball over. If we stay out of foul trouble, I think our defense leads us to a victory.
I actually found some bets. UC Davis is +1400 to win the tourney, and -235 money line for the Cal Poly game at the Orleans. I placed $100 each on both.
It hasn’t been very smooth. We played a lot of time with no center. I don’t think it was foul trouble but rather coaches decision. If we could make a few jump shots we’d be up big. Like the defensive intensity
Pretty good defense by the Ags. We've forced 10 TO's. 22 of our 27 points were in the paint. 0-5 from 3. Neither offense seems like they can create much separation. This game will probably go down to the wire.
The only reason we are leading is because Koroma has been on the bench with foul trouble but now, with Murphy and Anigwe in foul trouble, Koroma is back in and that's trouble for the Ags.
Started watching late but I'm caught up to real time. The game must have started late? Feels like the refs are calling it a bit too tight. Ags only 2 of 10 from 3.
Nice to have professional broadcasters especially after that Long Beach State game.
Good to see Pepper hit that 3. He was only 1 of 7 before that. I hope he goes on a streak now, because I note he's been pretty cold lately. Ags need to put these guys away, but Cal Poly has stayed close to their credit.
