i think Sac has been under the radar because of that loss to UNI. they had 450 yards BUT 3 INT that day. i believe 2 of UNI's 3Q TD's came on short drives after INT's.

And Suc has about as easy of a schedule as could be penciled in leading up to our game. The only unknown is NAU which they get at home.

our schedule is easier than in recent years (avoiding both Montana’s) but that ISU made it harder than it needed to be.

I did a quick look one day, and it seemed like the traditional top teams had tougher slates than us.

MSU and EWU seem to have the toughest. MSU has Weber, EWU and Montana. EWU has Montana, Weber and MSU. Montana is like us with two ‘top teams’. Sac clearly easiest with only Montana.

Weber - EWU i think is Saturday. That will be interesting. Can the stout Weber defense slow down Barriere?

I think Sam Houston State is over rated there. They haven’t played as tough a schedule as Eastern Washington, Eastern offense totally dominant, number 1 in FCS , and Eastern has two more wins.

EWU is making their case for #1 for sure. Their offense is putting up crazy numbers.

Agreed. It would be one thing if they were just hammering everyone they played and you don't want to drop the defending champs until they lose. But Eastern has better wins and has generally been hammering the bad teams.

The coaches poll not even having Sac in there even after they win in Montana is hilariously bad also. And it's not even close either. Coaches have them 34th.

At this point of the season season rankings by computer should not reflect last year. There is enough data from this year.
Sam Houston was lucky as hell to win their game against 3-3 unranked SFA. Any poll that doesn’t have NDSU and EWU ranked as top 2 is doing it wrong
And I agree 100% about Sac. They really use the two QBs as an advantage, I’m jealous.

10 or 11 sounds about right. As much as i whine about our offense, 6-1 and a 32-3 win over any BSC team is huge. Go Ags!

The Aggies are No. 10 in the FCS Coaches poll and No. 10 in the Stats FCS poll as they look forward to a Saturday evening Big Sky date at Cal Poly in San Luis Obispo.

“I thought our defense played really, really well,” said Aggie head coach Dan Hawkins at his weekly press conference Tuesday. “Our guys came up with big plays on defense and got a lot of stops when we needed them. Coming off that loss to Idaho State, it was important to put our boots back on and our hard hats on and not let a loss drag us down.”

Hawkins also had high praise for all those behind-the-scenes folks who helped to produce another sellout crowd.

“It makes it fun for our guys to play in that environment,” he noted. “It’s just a great atmosphere for college football.”

Speaking of Eastern Washington, the Eagles are flying higher than ever before, reaching No. 2 in both polls with their 7-0 mark after pummeling Idaho, 71-21, last Saturday on the famous red turf in Cheney. EWU senior quarterback Eric Barriere is now the runaway favorite for the Walter Payton Award as the top offensive player in the FCS after passing for 600 yards and seven scores against the Vandals and adding an eighth touchdown with a 12-yard run.

For his efforts, Barriere was named the Big Sky offensive player of the week for the fifth time this season and also picked
up his second national player of the week honors. For the game, Eastern finished with a stunning 837 yards of total offense, a total most teams don’t achieve in two games.

The Aggies also have a win over Idaho this fall, but by a much more modest 27-20 count, and they had to come from behind in the fourth quarter to do it.

For his career, Barriere now has 13,238 yards of total offense, just 70 yards short of the all-time Big Sky record held by Matt Nichols, also of Eastern Washington.

Said EWU head coach Aaron Best, “Eric Barriere, again, substantiates himself as the best player in the land at this level. Period, bar none, zero discussion as far as I’m concerned. He is explosive, he is selfless and he understands that the run game compliments the pass game. Our team has taken on every challenge and we’ve succeeded on every challenge thus far.”
