The Aggies have released their 2019-20 non-conference schedule and, in my opinion, the home portion stinks. We have a whopping 4 home games total and two of them are against two NAIA teams: Holy Names and William Jessop. Holy sh#t!

Well, not much of a home schedule. With all the new guys, it feels like 8-8 would be a pretty good record going into conference play.

How is it that we can only schedule 4 home games? Why aren’t we contracting for home and home games with west coast teams?

Don't we always have crappy non conference home schedules?

I presume we will always be in this position in the future unless we turn into a Gonzaga type of caliber.

It's rough to build any type of student excitement when 2 of the 4 OOC home games are against lower levels schools no one has heard of, a third is against a mid-west school hardly anyone out here cares about, and the only reasonably interesting home game (LMU) is during break. But this seems to be the norm.

I believe the 3 WCAC games are all the second part of home/home games. We had USF and USD right out of the gate at home last year

The Ags will receive $75,000 for playing their season opener at Loyola of Chicago.

For the eighth straight season, the Loyola men’s basketball team is set to open its season at home.
Loyola is scheduled to face University of California, Davis (UC Davis) at Gentile Arena Nov. 5 at 7:05 p.m., according to public records obtained by The Phoenix through a Public Records Act request. Loyola is slated to pay UC Davis $75,000 to play the game, the records stated.

UC Davis, located in Davis, California, finished 11-20 overall and 7-9 in Big West Conference action last year. In their only previous matchup, the Aggies defeated the Ramblers 64-61 Nov. 23, 2011 in Davis

    http://loyolaphoenix.com/2019/07/loyola-mens-basketball-home-opener-set-for-nov-5/

The article is in error regarding the Aggie win over the Ramblers in the only other time the two teams have played. The game was actually played in 2013 in a tournament in Portland

    Summary of the 2013 game:

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Ryan Sypkens scored 15 points including five 3-pointers as UC Davis beat Loyola Chicago in overtime on Saturday night.

Corey Hawkins scored and team-high 17 points going 6 of 14 from the field and hit 4 of 4 from the line with seven rebounds for the Aggies (3-2). Josh Ritchart had 9 points and led the team with nine rebounds. UC Davis hit 46 percent from the field and 80 percent from the line.

UC Davis trailed for much of the first period but came back on the momentum of two 3-pointers by Sypkens to a 30-22 halftime lead. The Aggies took back the lead with 5:50 left in regulation on a pair of Devon Turk free throws. Sypkens hit another 3-pointer in the final seconds to put the game into overtime.

Sypkens and Hawkins would both hit timely 3-pointers in overtime to give the win to UC Davis.

Well there is at least one person in Chicago looking forward to the Loyola-Chicago game. My daughter is now in grad school just down the road at UChicago, so she's excited to have the Aggies in town.

Might be time for a Dad road trip to see the Aggies and visit your daughter at the same time!
