I always want to see the series go 5 games so as many players get a chance as possible. Seems like there are fewer players this year. Last year I remember there being about 40- 42 players for fall games.

I won't attend games there specifically because of those stands- haven't been in 3 years.

When I was a graduate student there I was able to enjoy free admission and the lower student seats (with their own special ramp), but the "reserved" better seats for non- students are an unnerving climb. Of course the free tickets I got were during the years Leadingham was quarterback, so free was the right price !

I restrict myself to pretty much just baseball games now, though I still don't trust that ramp at "The John". Seriously, couldn't have come up with a better nickname ?

They usually mention them on the team twitter site. In my case I just asked the coach.

Now you might wonder, why don't I ask him about the schedule instead of piecing it together every year ? I do, but I don't post it on here. And that's because it often changes (already has this year). It's not official until you see it on a school website. Also, . I don't think he wants it re-posted on the internet.

In general I'd say the coaching staff is very helpful if you have questions. I've learned if you want this kind of information you won't get it from a university sports media contact. They will generally just put it back on the coach and won't ask them for you. I just make a point of keeping my email questions short and restricting them to fundraisers and the schedule. They probably get a lot of questions from parents about why their kids don't play more.

I would not, however, recommend emailing coaches Les or Hawkins directly since they have a lot more media inquiries to deal with, I imagine.

Gold pitcher is Tim Wieser I believe. Whoever's playing 3B for Gold looks really good. He's made some great plays. Think it's Jando Lara

At least the women's team can clobber Academy of Art. If memory serves the men's team lost the last time they faced them.

I mean come on...facing a school that Is essentially 1 building, doesn't have its own athletic facilities, and calls it's teams the urban knights. What the flock is an urban knight, a knight that uses a lot of slang and goes after people spraying graffiti on stuff ? On second thought they're probably the ones involved in the graffiti, being an art school.

I don't know. I don't think the Aggies have a shot at winning the pre- season. Lots of good practicing out there !

And that silly statement sums up my feelings about pre- season polls.

Sportswriter: Uh duh...I'm gonna come up with a pre- season all- star team. Lemmee see. I take Da good players from da year before, subtract Da graduates, add Da new good players, then decide which ones r goodest. Then I pick Da next goodest...

Be quiet and let the players decide who's the best, sportswriters and coaches !

Are coaches not allowed to vote for their own teams in pre- season polls ? If there's no restriction and your team sucks why not vote for yourself and at least get a vote.

And all- conference teams. Are all those guys and gals from different schools going to get on the court and play an all- star team from a different conference ? What if they hate each other ? What kind of imaginary team is that ? If not, why have a second team and an honorable mention team ? You don't need reserves for a game against nobody that isn't going to happen. You want to recognize good players, fine, but we don't need to do that by putting players who would never play together on a fantasy team. Whose wacky fantasy is that ?

I think if you're going to have an honorable mention team you should have a dishonorable mention team. Put all the troublemakers on it (along with what they did so we can laugh at them). Fill in any missing spots with players who flunked all their classes and got booted out of college altogether. One last chance to put on the uniform.

Creighton released their schedule today. They are returning the Aggies' visit from last year. The Blue Jays also visited Davis in 2012, winning 2 of 3. In the first game the Aggies hit well against current Giants pitcher Ty Blach, but the bullpen blew the lead.

And the team still only has 1 win- and a playoff date. Huh ?

Not to be a dirty old man, but the women's field hockey program seems to very good at recruiting good- looking student athletes. I saw the team photo on the ucdavisaggies.com.
