• Aggie Ascent - Facilities Master Plan Release
They can grow fast if taken care of properly. Here is 13 and 1/2 years of growth for 1 of the healthy trees we have. If we had put 10 or 12, 3 tree clusters in that grass area just south of the stadium and properly cared for them it would look great right now. We do have 2 healthy redwoods so I guess that's a start.

Yes, they can grow just fine in less than ideal places like Elk Grove or Davis but they need help- shade when the are young, plenty of water, and 3 tree clusters will help them grow better. I apologize for so many post about redwood trees in a football forum, I'm a redwood nerd-lol.

Yep, we already have a redwood grove on campus- here's a screen grab of google maps

The AI got a bit aggressive with my redwoods idea- ha. I would have redwoods in the grass areas south of the stadium, not extending into the parking lot.

However, I would not have a single row of trees like they tried before. According to the tiny bit of research I did when I considered planting redwoods in the east bay, the best way to give redwoods a chance in a less than ideal environment is using 3 tree clusters. It really annoys me that someone had a great idea to plant redwoods but we didn't give them a great chance of being healthy... and we're supposedly an Ag school.

I do admit I have an unusual interest in redwood trees. I've probably made 4-5 posts about them in a college football forum- lol

Here is my AI design attempt for the next step of Aggie Stadium.

North End Zone- Beer Garden, mix of permanent bar and food trucks

South End Zone- keep as grass. I would add Redwoods behind the score board. It is a pet peeve of mine that we did a half ass try to add Redwoods but some died, some look unhealthy/stunted and only 2 actually look healthy. And we are supposedly an ag school :(

New Press Box- Doesn't look great but I tried to add proposed renderings (which aren't that exciting IMO) and the size looks off but I can only waste so much time redesigning the stadium- ha.

East side lines would the future steps down the line after years of winning games and high attendance numbers.
  • FIFA World Cup 2026
We were in Boston and considered going to a game, but for $1500 per ticket, no thanks. I was thinking we could spend up and pay 200-300 per ticket but not even close- lol. It was interesting while on the Old Town Trolley bus in Boston and went right by the Paraguay team hotel and saw the fans cheering for team bus, as they loaded up for the Germany game. We later watched the game in a BBQ joint and saved about $5000.
  • MBB Big West Tournament UC Santa Barbara (18-13, 11-9) v. UC Davis (18-13, 11-9), Wednesday, Mar. 11

Not going to the tourney this year but we went a few years back.

The pros- it is a beautiful newish arena, there is a nice upscale mall across the street with many restaurant and pub choices for before or after the game, we parked for free at the mall, ate there and then walked to the game.

The cons- very few fans at the game and zero energy in the arena. That and we watched an Aggie loss to Riverside :(

Parking caveat- It seemed like other fans parked at the mall like us and I didn’t hear of or see anyone getting parking tickets but it is possible they are more strict about that this year. I didn't really worry about getting a ticket because we parked close to the restaurant, ate, wandered the mall and then walked to the game.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
I hope you guys are successful. A stable Mountain West Conference that included Davis, Sac St, San Jose and Nevada would be great for athletes, travel costs as well as fans being able to attend many games. Perhaps myself and 95% of the opinions I've seen in the college sports world will be wrong and this will be a great move.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Sac is just getting destroyed on this move everywhere I look. Mountain West/New Pac message boards are 95% mocking them. Wood's X post replies are 90% negative. The Audible Podcast bought up the same question "where is the money coming from?" Multiple mentions of "odd" and even went are far as calling it "pyramid schemey."

    $975 Million?
There should a prop bet on this. 3 choices you can pick- the under, the way under or a bankrupt athletic dept

This has been posted on other threads but can a potential stadium renovation please include something like this?

An Endzone bar area like Colorado St or San Jose Soccer. How about the Mondavi/Sierra Nevada Endzone Porch?

It seems like something the UC Regents wouldn't like but come on, this would be great.

Oh by the way, I’ve made a few posts as DavisDude on https://wcsboard.com/forum/8-sports-forum/

Multiple members welcomed me to the board and hoped for more Davis fans, so if anybody wants to join, come on over. Spread the word of the Mighty Davis Ags.

wcsboards seems to be the biggest group of Mountain West/ New Pac fans online.

Nothing about paying 15?, 18?, 20+? million(I've seen many different numbers) to join the MAC is appealing to me.

I think Sac will struggle big time in the MAC. Has an FCS team with less success tried to make this jump? I get the 3 seasons with Troy Taylor were great but nothing else in their history suggest they will succeed at FCS let alone FBS. And on top of that the travel will be horrible. A bunch of 3-9 or 4-8 seasons playing the likes of Eastern Michigan isn’t going to capture the interest of the region.

I get wishing we were moving faster but I want nothing to do with Sac’s “fake it till you make it” game plan.
  • Needed Updates to the Football Uniforms / Field
I like the idea of using Davis script on the football field.

I’m a fan of just using “Davis” whenever possible, especially in the context of sports. Unfortunately many people (not us on the board obviously) lump all the UCs together once you get past Cal and UCLA.

De-emphasizing the UC might help distinguish us from the other UCs. It could reduce the amount of times broadcasters refer to us as 'Cal Davis.', which bugs me- ha.
  • Transfer Portal
That agent also represents Jedd Fisch so makes sense he would stand with Fisch. Apparently college football's favorite villain Lane Kiffin and LSU are going after Williams.

Yep- CFB is a mess, it's still my favorite sport... although my interest may be waning.
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
Fantastic finale for the FCS season. And it was a great atmosphere in Nashville. Makes me wonder if we need to push for FBS at all. If we were a constant 10 top FCS team, getting home playoff games and the goal of getting to Nashville, it might be more attractive than hoping to get to 6 or 7 wins and a trip to the Potato Bowl or New Mexico Bowl.
  • 2026 Football Recruiting
We my look like them, but unlike Notre Dame we are choosing to still play football games- lol
  • Attendance
On TV the crowd sounded loud and very involved in the game despite some empty seats. It seemed like a much better atmosphere than last year's playoff game

Interesting to see that undefeated, playoff favorites North Dakoda St only had 10,400 in their 19,000 seat dome. And Mercer had only 3000 fans. So yes it would great to have Montana-esque support at our games, I don't think we are doing that bad in the grand scheme of things.

I will add that I live out of state and only make it to 1 game a year, so I don't feel I have the right to complain. All you who make it out most/all home games- complain away. lol.
  • Coaching Carousel
That is a strange hire at Stanford. He was the OC of terrible Stanford teams a few years back, so lets hire him as head coach?
