• UCSD Expected to Announce Joining the Big West on Monday
Boise St and SDSU nearly joined Hawaii in the BW a couple yrs ago. We just went from that to Bakersfield.
  • WBB 2 pm Sunday: Aggies (5-0) @ Seattle (3-2)
ya Bertsch is something else. She’s got great footwork, finesse and seems to be able to efficiently score off either hand on either side. Not to mention her height. I’m really looking forward to the St. Mary’s and Oregon St games to see how they handle her.
  • MBB 5 pm Sunday: Aggies (3-1) @ Washington (3-2)
Playing well. We’re small but gritty. Schneider quick and crafty penetrating thru their zone. Chima causing problems inside
  • WBB 1 pm PT Friday: Aggies (4-0) @ Southern Utah (1-3)
Decent game, but way too careless with the ball. With Morgan in, this team is a completely different animal. She's going to cause mismatches in every game. Nina Bessolo may emerge as another star this year. Good basketball IQ. On a side note, looks like Jennifer Gross made a point to give the reserves more time at the cost of blowing the game wide open- smart move at this point in the season. Tough to complain with a 26 point road victory, but this team still has a lot they can still improve on and would love to see it live up to its potential.
  • Aggie Women Move up to #11 in the Mid-Major Poll
My concern for this senior laden team is the talent they will face most of the year won’t allow them to prepare for the elite teams. OSU is the only top 25 team they’ll face all year. That will be a good measuring stick. And the crazy thing is it’s entirely possible they’ll have a fighting chance. I think for a team of this quality you can’t be happy just making the tournament, so seeding is important. Winning definitively every game (or almost every game) can help resume. No guarantee they’ll make it, but setting the bar at just making the dance is too low imo. This team has stars, coaching, depth, experience, athleticism...
  • WBB 7 pm Monday: Aggies (3-0) @ Pacific (2-0)
This team is special. A 32 point road win against a respectable team. Wow! Athletic, good ball movement, well coached with star players. Dangerous combo. Bertsch is dominant inside on offense and was super active getting blocks on defense. Her 6'4" frame combined w moves, footwork, finesse is going to be tough to stop. Opens things up for the others. Gianotti and Nagel were superb and bring their senior leadership to this squad. Going to be an exciting season!
  • MBB 7:30 pm Wednesday: Aggies (1-0) @ Pacific (0-1)
I'll take it, but we had a complete meltdown towards the end of the game. No help on defense, poor ball movement, turnovers. This team definitely has it's work cut out. But no doubt good pieces, gritty defense and a star player. Shorts, Siler, Chima, AJ John, Goode. Not a bad core. Will be interesting to see how the team develops. So far two road wins coming off a tournament season.
  • Big Sky?
Well I think BW is the best (non-football) conference for us - at least as long as we plan to be an FCS team. I would say teams like UCSB, Cal Poly, UCI, Hawaii, Beach have more appeal than Montana, Idaho, Portland St, etc. Why? Academics, California rivalries, our friends go there, etc. The added bonus is reasonable travel costs in the BW.

Now hypothetically if we go FBS and you put us in the same conference as Nevada, UNLV, SDSU, Boise, maybe we reconsider for all sports due to the jump in competition to increase our profile. But even then, Hawaii prefers to stay in the BW for non-football sports- probably for travel costs. Just some food for thought.
  • Week 3: UC Davis @ Portland State
Wow. Did not see that coming. What a difference a year makes. Go Ags!
  • Senior Carpool Karaoke
    Pure awesomeness. Go ags!
  • WBB WNIT: UC Davis Aggies (25-7) @ Washington State Cougars (14-19)
Tough out, but gotta give it to this team. Very resilient, wouldn't give up. Tough place to play. I wonder if the result would be different if it were an aggie home game. WSU was big and athletic. In any case, hats off to the ladies on another solid season.
  • WBB WNIT: UC Davis Aggies (25-7) @ Washington State Cougars (14-19)
Three 3's and we have a 6 pt game! Let's go!
  • WBB WNIT: UC Davis Aggies (25-7) @ Washington State Cougars (14-19)
Taking a quick look at their schedule, WSU's record may not be great, but they beat #9 UCLA by 9 and Oregon by 16. Both are women's NCAA Sweet 16 teams.
  • #16 Aggies (23-12) vs #1 Kansas (28-4)
Awesome! Always been a fan of Reggie. Class act as a person, and a heck of a competitor back in the day.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (23-7) @ Utah (16-14)
Props to the ladies! They've built a solid program. Beat the Rams!
  • #16 Aggies (23-12) vs #1 Kansas (28-4)
Ya good point! On a side note, we should start putting at least a couple high major teams on the schedule. Even if they're losses, it's good to measure up. Plus it can help our rpi- win or lose.
  • #16 Aggies (23-12) vs #1 Kansas (28-4)
We were outmatched by a taller, more athletic, five star recruit team that's well coached and has future NBAers. Great first step for our program. Will hopefully help recruiting. Proud of this team. A lot of positives and things to build on. Moneke will be back next yr. He's a great centerpiece. Though we're losing 5 seniors, Schneider, Goode, Henn, Hennings back next yr. AJ John and Printup should come off red shirts. Will miss Lemar, JT, Graham, White, and Georgi. Great yr. Go Ags!
  • #16 Aggies (23-12) vs #1 Kansas (28-4)
Even though we haven't played a team even close to this caliber, our D will be solid. Brynton and Chima need to play well and we'll need contributions all around. Big q for me is how effective Chima will be in the paint. If he can do well inside, it will open up opportunities and an inside-out game. Rebounding will be key but mostly scared of a press from such a lengthy, athletic team. Coach Les will have a game plan and make this team believe in themselves. And who knows? It's March!
