• Hawaii radio announcer
I am very surprised to learn of this. I've been listening to Bobby Curran in Hawaii for over 20 years now and he has always been a classy, intelligent commentator who is pretty well respected out here. The comments about the cheerleaders is out of character. He is the play-by-play person for all Hawaii football and basketball games and he is usually very objective. I've called him on his morning talk show a few times. He listens and has never given any hint of misogyny. I'll be listening a bit this week to see if he bring it up or apologizes. I hope he knows that there are a lot of Aggies out here, including our former Chancellor, Virginia Henshaw. Maybe I'll call him myself.
  • UC Davis Aggies vs NC Central Eagles @ Dayton, OH
I just want to say that I love this website. My Aggie fans post a lot of great information, opinions and insights that I would have a lot of trouble getting any other way. I did notice that UNC-Central has posted some good non-conference ones. In addition to beating Northern Kentucky as eastbayaggie noted, they beat Missouri and lost to Ohio State by only 6, but that information is readily accessible on the web. Anyway: thanks you guys!
  • Ags vs. 'Eaters: For all the marbles
Did anyone else note Coach Les saying that the blowout loss to UCI was to sest them up for last night? He was kidding of course, but that thought had occurred to me: that the Anteaters would be overconfident.
  • Ags vs. 'Eaters: For all the marbles
It doesn't matter to me who the Ags play as long as they play hard and up to their abilities. I think they can stick with anyone. Not counting on a win, but it would be nice if they can make it close. This team has a lot of heart and they certainly deserved to win this game. Congratulations to Coach Les and all of the players for making Aggie Nation proud.
  • Ags vs. 'Eaters: For all the marbles
Nice photo. I had the chance to speak with Coach Les two years ago after they lost to Hawaii out here in Honolulu. He's a fist class guy.
  • Men's Big West Conference Tournament Schedule March 9-11
Either way, Ags get to go to a national post-season tournament, but we all hope it's the Big Dance. I don't care who or where we play. I think of it as a step on a journey to some national attention: better recruiting, more glory for the campus, etc. I just can't believe how well Moneke plays. At least two of his blocks were ESPN highlight worthy. And if you look up the word "clutch" you should see a picture of Brynton Lemar. They definitely need to play better tonight to win. Can't start so poorly and Siler needs to play under more control.
  • Bob Williams out at UCSB
    Shame on UCSB
  • MBB: Aggies (19-11 & 11-4) @ UC Irvine (18-13 & 11-4) Big West Championship Game
Hard to judge when I can't see the game, but from the Stats it looks like the Anteaters got hot and wanted it more. They've outrebounded us 40-30, gotten more fouls and turned the ball over more in addition to hitting 13 of 23 treys with 4 minutes to go. If they play them in the tournament it could be totally different. I can't pin this one on Coach Les.
  • MBB: Aggies (19-11 & 11-4) @ UC Irvine (18-13 & 11-4) Big West Championship Game
The telecast is not loading on BigWestTV, but following it on ESPN Gamecast. Now 22-3. Maybe best I can't see it. Arrgghhh.
  • MBB: Aggies (19-11 & 11-4) @ UC Irvine (18-13 & 11-4) Big West Championship Game
Ags road record in SoCal is 2-4 and UCI is a solid team. I'm going to have to suggest that the Ags will lose this one, get the #2 seed and have to beat UCI on a neutral court, which is more likely, to get to the NCAAs.
  • MBB: U of Hawaii v. The Aggies - Senior Night (3/2)
BlueGoldAg, I agree with everything you said and did notice Adenrele kissing the center court. Also thought the crowd disappointing given how many were at the LBSU game. I wonder if being on ESPN plays a role or maybe it was because it was a weeknight? In the good old days at the gym, we had to get there half an hour early to get a seat and there were only 8000 students. I think, win or lose at UCI Moneke and Lamar deserve to be co-MVPs in the Big West.
  • MBB: Long Beach State (13-17 & 6-8) @ the Aggies (17-11 & 9-4) ESPN Game
Thanks. What was great was seeing all of those UCD students cheering for their team. Hawaii's arena holds 10K, but it is rare to have many students show up or have the place half full. The student section is behind the backboard. I go to about three or four games a year and root for the Rainbow Warriors when they aren't playing the Ags.
  • MBB: Long Beach State (13-17 & 6-8) @ the Aggies (17-11 & 9-4) ESPN Game
I was so glad the game was on ESPNU so I could watch it live. The Pavilion seemed to be packed and the commentators mentioned that attendance was 5000. It sure seemed lively. (Living in Hawaii, I've only been to one game there, so it is hard to imagine.) It was a classic game and good revenge against the Beach for the Ags OT loss earlier this season. I've seen 3 LBSU games this season and they all went to OT. The one in Hawaii was a stunning loss for the 49ers, but this one was more devastating. Chima Moneke is back to his all-conference form. What a great block he had late in OT to keep the Ags in front. And how cool is Darius Graham sinking a key trey late in regulation and those free throws at the end of OT? Don't forget that Long Beach State was the preseason pick to win the Big West. They're tough. Ags can't afford to overlook Hawaii next week either, but they should beat them at home then we'll see how they do down in Irvine.
  • MBB: Aggies (16-9 and 8-2) @ LBSU (11-16 and 6-5)
Regarding Chima Moneke's drop in scoring, have any of you who have watched Aggie games a lot this season notice if the other teams are defending him differently or is he just in a slump? I did not get to watch the whole game but I did notice he was leaving that baby hook short a lot.
  • ESPNU Returns to The Pavilion on 2/25 v. LBSU
Wish I could be there, but I'll be one of the millions watching it on TV in Hawaii!
  • North Dakota set to leave Big Sky
I like the idea of the Hornies being in the Big West, but living in Hawaii, I love being able to root for the Ags once a year. I don't think the league can give Hawaii the boot in any case. Hawaii will have to want to leave and they might if they can join the WCC, which is very doubtful.
  • MBB: Aggies (13-8 & 5-1) @ Cal Poly (6-15 & 1-6)
I can't help but think that these kids (and we have to remember that they are all young men) ease back when they play an opponent with a poor record. On the road, that's a mortal error without the home crowd to cheer them on.
  • MBB: Aggies (11-8 & 3-1) @ Hawai'i (8-9 & 2-2)

I confess that I never saw Mike Lein play. I do know that he holds the UCD season rebounding record, but he played Div. II. I note that the Sac Bee article about Moneke calls him the most athletic player ever. Hyperbole notwithstanding, the writer did not qualify that statement as the most athletic big man ever but overall.
