• Aggies vs Bears
ESPN gives the Ags an 8& chance to beat Cal.
  • Prediction time!
I'll predict 10-2 with losses to Cal and ND State. Win the Big Sky and get to the semifinals of the FCS.
  • Aggies vs Bears
If the spread is now 13, that makes more sense. I would love to see the Aggies pull an upset, but the Cal defense is likely to be among the top 10 nationally. Still, I think UC Davis will cover the spread because Cal's offense is so weak. It should be a low scoring game. The Ags strong offense will have trouble scoring on the Bears, but the Ags defense could hold the Bears offense down. Over/under should be around 20.
  • Aggies vs Bears
My mom and dad both went to Cal so I naturally grew up as a huge Cal fan. I decided to go to UC Davis though after visiting the campus and feeling really comfortable there. I never regretted it, but whenever the Ags play Cal, I am a bit split in my loyalties. I've always sided with UCD though and just once I want to see them BEAT CAL, something I feel a bit squeamish about writing. Better I write GO AGS!

Thanks. I should have remembered him.

Which Aggie WR has a super bowl ring?
  • MBB Big West Conference Tounament March 14-16
This post on ESPN implies that UC Irvine is the best men's basketball team in California: http://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/26333591/meet-uc-irvine-california-top-college-basketball-team . If they can beat Oregon on Sunday, that implication will be more like a certainty.

UC Irvine just knocked off Kansas State!
  • MBB Big West Conference Tounament March 14-16
Hawaii literally lost at the last second to Long Beach State after blowing an 18 point lead. So all the top seeds in the Big West move on. At this point, I have to root for UCI since I think they have the best chance of knocking off a power conference school in the NCAAs. I think they deserve a 12 seed and 12 seeds are notorious for upsetting 5 seeds.
  • MBB Big West Conference Tounament March 14-16
Tough loss, tough season. We'll miss TJ, AJ, and GGoode next year, but it is still a mystery why Schneider had such a down season. Had he played as well as his earlier two years, the Ags would have been a lot better this season. I hope the new guys will have the Aggies back in the mix next year. Meanwhile we can all look forward to football.

Ags outrebounding the Titans 15-12, but the officials have given UC Davis only 2 free throws compared to Fullerton's 10.
  • MBB Big West Conference Tounament March 14-16
The Honolulu newspaper today noted that over the last 8 years, only twice has the #1 seed won the tournament and twice lower half seeds have won (#7 Cal Poly in 2014 and #5 UCSB in 2011). In other words, BlueGoldAg is absolutely correct that anyone can win. I think the Ags have a real chance here. Between their bad loss at Hawaii and TJ's injury they won 5 in a row and were beginning to turn things around. They need to get back to playing at that level. The paper also quoted Jim Les as stating that TJ has not been 100% but is now getting close.
  • Goodbye Freeborn Hall
Oh no! I just saw this. I practically grew up in Freeborn. I also got my haircuts there, made the only 7-10 split of my life in the bowling alley, and saw Linda Ronstadt, the Eagles, and Gordon Lightfoot there among others. I was sad when they tore down Stonehenge (what we called the Pierce/Thille complex back in the day.) where I dormed for two years and RAed for one. This makes me just as sad. Now that I think of it, I never knew who they named the building after. Anyone know?
  • MBB 3/9 5 pm DH Senior Game: Riverside (9-22 & 3-12) @ UCD (11-18 & 7-8)
Ags will be the 7th seed which does not bode well for their success in the tournament. Still, we can hope that they can get back to playing as well as they are capable of playing and pull off an upset or two. That would at least salve the wounds of a disappointing season. I feel very bad for the seniors.
  • MBB 3/9 5 pm DH Senior Game: Riverside (9-22 & 3-12) @ UCD (11-18 & 7-8)
Glad I missed it. I was expecting the usual evening start time and did not check until the game was over. What a let down.
  • Big West Tournament Seeding Prospects
After the loss to Hawaii, I think the best we can do for seeding is #5. We could pass CSUN, but not Long Beach or Hawaii. This is bad because anything below the 4 seed means we would have to likely play UCSB, then CSU Fullerton and finally UCI to win the tournament, barring any upsets. Last night was the critical game. Worse, if the Aggies don't get their mojo back they could be one and done in the Big West tournament.
  • MBB 3/7 7 PM: Hawai'i (16-12 & 7-7) @ UCD (11-17 & 7-7)
This was a real surprise given how both teams had been playing lately and the Aggies being at home. So much for a good seed and for momentum going into the tournament. I'd not have thought a veteran team like UC Davis would blow an 11 point half time lead. Hawaii now leads the all time series with the Ags 11-6.
  • MBB 3/7 7 PM: Hawai'i (16-12 & 7-7) @ UCD (11-17 & 7-7)
From the box score, it looks like the 3 point shot has deserted them. Ags 0-6 at 10 minute mark?
  • MBB 3/7 7 PM: Hawai'i (16-12 & 7-7) @ UCD (11-17 & 7-7)
I missed the start if the second half. What happened? The 11 point lead has turned into a 3 point deficit!
