  • MBB: Aggies (8-5, 1-1) host Cal State Fullerton (11-5, 4-0) 6 pm Thursday 1/26
Is it my imagination or has the size of the group following UCD Men's basketball shrunk in the last two years? I count only four others besides myself posting about last night's game. If true, I can understand it, given the number of cancellations and the inconsistent play of this year's team, but still...

A very disappointing loss. Not sure what happened in the second half, but give credit to the Titans for being aggressive and coming back from behind in both halves. Their guards did a good job of containing Manjon and Anigwe was not much of an offensive factor. Getting only 10 free throws and making only 4 of them didn't help either, but mostly it almost seemed like they got demoralized late i the game and gave up the fight.

Ags were up by 9 and Coach Les is using a lot more players than any time for awhile. Good to have that depth again. Now up by only 2, but this looks like a game of runs.

So far, so good. I like the ways the Ags are playing, especially on defense.
  • 2022 Football Recruiting
According to the NCAA passer ratings from last season, Hunter Rodrigues finished at 125.25, which would have been 64th in the entire FCS. Not great. Hastings would have been even lower at 89th with a 109.6 rating. Clearly, they need to get better. For the sake of comparison, EWU's Barriere had a rating of 167.1, 3rd in the FCS.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-5, 0-1) at CSUN (5-10, 1-2) 7 pm Thursday 1/20
I wonder if UC Davis has ever had nada from the free throw line? Glad I was able to see the end of this one because it was a really fast game. They had to win this one given how poor a team the Matadors are, Big West door-Mats.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-5, 0-1) at CSUN (5-10, 1-2) 7 pm Thursday 1/20
Ags have yet to make a free throw! Of course, they've only gotten 3 chances.

I haven't seen Pepper shoot yet, but I see that he's 2 of 3 from 3, so I wonder why he isn't pulling the trigger more often. Also # for CSUN has hit 3 of 6 and has 11 of their 29.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-5, 0-1) at CSUN (5-10, 1-2) 7 pm Thursday 1/20
That was a really fast half. When I tuned in there was only 3 minutes left. Based on the earlier posts, it looks like the Aggies let CSUN back into this game. From the little I saw, it seems like the defense could be a lot better.

The start time, 5 pm in Hawaii, means that I won't be able to watch the game from start to finish. I'll start watching a half hour late and won't be able to finish until after the game is over. Fortunately, ESPN+ allows pausing and picking up the broadcast late.
  • MBB & WBB: New Covid Cancellations and Fan Restrictions
On the schedule I have, the UCR game was originally to be played on Dec. 28 at Davis and Feb. 1 at Riverside? The game tomorrow is CSUN, no? It's to be broadcast on ESPN+

I seem to recall the commentators saying that the Aggies only had 9 players available.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-4, 0-0) at Cal Poly (3-10, 0-2) 7 pm Saturday 1/15
Free throw points: Cal Poly 26 (out of 32), UCD 7 (out 0f 12). I've seen a lot of basketball games but I', pretty sure I've never seen this lopsided a game in one teams favor. I'm not saying the officials were biased but it makes me wonder.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-4, 0-0) at Cal Poly (3-10, 0-2) 7 pm Saturday 1/15
Ags have tended to be able to come back from large deficits. Let's see what they do.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-4, 0-0) at Cal Poly (3-10, 0-2) 7 pm Saturday 1/15
I couldn't focus on the game until the second half. What the heck are the Aggies doing? They have twice as many turnovers and it doesn't look like they've played very good defense.
  • MBB: Aggies (7-4, 0-0) at Cal Poly (3-10, 0-2) 7 pm Saturday 1/15
Cal Polu is 0-2 and I expect an Aggie win tonight. Meanwhile, Hawaii i starting to look a lot better than expected. They beat UCI 72-56.

    Way cool!
  • Men vs UCSD
Nice to see the guys are in good condition, although the media often exaggerates how tired athletes get from playing a lot of minutes. A 7-man rotation, plus half-time, should give varsity athletes enough rest to go full speed unless they're pressing most of the game.
  • Men vs UCSD
Ags practically won this one at the foul line: 85% v. 55%. Great game by Fuller who always does well against the Tritons it seems.
  • MBB & WBB: New Covid Cancellations and Fan Restrictions
The speed that the omicron variant runs through the population makes it hard to know the long term effects of the illness. Even with the alpha and delta variants, I am surprised at the lack of any news about any athletes who suffer from the long haul effects of the infection. I hope that none of these athletes who have the virus are going to see their playing days end, but it does not sound like some programs are being very careful if, as in the case of UCI, all but one player tests positive.
