It's gone from bad to awful with that injury to Harrell. It looks like his knee started to buckle even as he was about to make what could have been a touchdown catch. I hope it's not a critical injury but it looks bad.

24-14 was not so much a prediction as a hope for respectability. Hope fading fast. :(

Description of Ag offense today: Take off shoe. Aim gun at foot. Shoot.
  • Week 12: Sac State @ UC Davis Causeway Classic 2021
Sac State was totally ready for that double pass. At this point, I will settle for a respectable score as opposed to a win. 24-14?

I saw #15, O"Brien, and #7, Eason, alongside the new #7, Benirscke. Are there any others up there?

I'm an optimist, but I have to agree that the game is over unless some kind of major and unlikely changes happen. Those who you who foresaw this sure called it. The Hornet QBs are good and their skill players are slicing through the Aggie defense like an NFL team. It's pretty disheartening, but I'm not going to give up on this game yet.

If EWU wins today (and Montana wins), I think it puts UCD in 5th place in the Big Sky if we lose. Do we still make the playoffs?
  • Week 12: Sac State @ UC Davis Causeway Classic 2021
Neither line is playing very well. No pressure on the Hornets' quarterbacks.

I found it hiding in a different category.

Is anyone else going to watch the game on ESPN+? I can't find it there.

In Hawkins we trust to come up with a good game plan and the ability to adjust it not only during half-time but as soon as he can see what needs to be done. I can't believe that the players aren't eager to execute after last week.
  • MBB: Aggies (2-0) at Pepperdine (1-2) 7 pm Wed 11/17
I missed the last 12 minutes or so, but when I left the Ags were up by one, so it's my fault. Next time I go hungry. One observation: Milling's shot seems to have disappeared on him since Utah State.

Looks like we're coming back. Unfortunately, the game runs into my dinnertime, so I can't watch the end, but I hope they pull it out.

The 6'9" forward, Zidek, has made 3 of 4 from beyond the arc. Ags can't stop that. They have to hope he and the waves cool off in the 2nd half and they almost certainly will since they can't shoot 71.4% from 3 for the whole game. Also, the officials are calling it close, especially on offensive fouls. Aggies need to shoot better and pass more. Pepperdine has twice as many assists.

Ags were a 1.5 point favorite? Tuition at Pepperdine is over $70,000?!

Very sloppy game so far by both teams. Waves are making some tough shots over decent defense by UCD. BlueGoldAg is right. Problem for the Ags is the cold shooting.
  • MBB: Aggies (2-0) at Pepperdine (1-2) 7 pm Wed 11/17
Ags relying too much on the 3-pt. shot, 5 of their first 7, hitting on 2 of them, though.

Pepperdine is rated to come in 7th place in the WCC according to Lindy's. They lost a scoring machine in Colbey Ross and hoped that they would have Braun Hartfield, a transfer from San Diego, to fill that role, but he must be injured because there are no stats for him this season. The guard that is leading them in scoring is Houston Malette, a 6' 5" freshman from Alameda. His height might give the Aggie guards some problems. I think it could be a close game win if our guys bring it like they did against Utah State.

For starters, I want to praise the UC Davis Intramural program. When I was there it was directed by a young man whose name I can't remember, Gary Colson (?), I think, but I seem to recall that he was honored for administering a really outstanding program that gave every student a chance to extend, develop or even start playing sports that not only provided some physical exercise but allowed for social and organizational development for both men and women. Speaking for myself, I never got a chance to participate in any organized sport in high school, so it was great to be able to play football, basketball, and softball with and against my fellow students.

In the more popular team sports, the tiered system (A,B,C levels) let a lot of student play sports who never would have had any chance at all to be part of a team. I had friends who never dreamt of playing competitive basketball, but got out on the courts and had a whole lot of fun.

I can't help but think it was the boomers who killed school spirit at least in Northern California. When I first got to Davis, there were all kinds of traditions and by the time I left, almost all of them were gone. For example, Homecoming was practically just another game. We did not think athletics was relevant given the issues of those days and I wonder if the current generation of students, facing similar issues, feel the same way. For my part, I never thought it was either/or and I was always a big fan of Aggie sports. Go Ags! Beat Sac State!
