  • 2023 Week 3: Southern Utah (0-2) @ UC Davis (1-1)

No, I was leaving as Biggs threw for the first TD and then missed the 2-pt conversion, the onside kick, etc. When I got back to campus my friends first said how lucky I was and when I said “What do you mean?” They laughed at me.

No, I actually had to stop watching after we scored our last TD, but I did not think we had it wrapped up.

I noticed that too. The defense got lax when the offense got a lead. I saw shades of Cal State Hayward in 1971 when I left the game because the Pioneers had a 15 point lead. I wonder how the defense would have done if the T-birds onside try had succeeded?

Two pretty evenly matched teams. Glad it was a home game for us. Whew! Glad I got to see it but now I need resuscitation.

    Ugh

Ags D-line not getting much pressure on the SUU qb. Lucky that their receivers have four drops.

I wonder if the new Stanford coach is wishing he’d stayed at his previous position :-)

Although I missed a lot of the first half a check on the ESPN play by play tells me that our margin depended on just two plays: an interception and a punt return otherwise it would a 0-0 game. Classic defensive struggle.

    Great punt!

Started watching just as Conners was returning that punt but the Ags couldn’t get the TD. Okay I guess but 10-0 sure looks a lot better.

Thanks. I’ll see what I can do but we’re staying with my daughter, son in law and our 2 week old grandson so I can’t watch the whole game.

I’m in Portland and can’t access my ESPN+ account so I’ll be following the game on the internet.
  • 2023 Week 2: UC Davis @ Oregon State
There is something to be said for the confidence of momentum and if the Aggies had been able to score on that first drive, it would have given them the confidence to keep the score lower, but I suspect they would still have failed to cover the final spread, maybe something like 38-14. We simply did not have the team speed or offensive lone strength to stay with the Beavers.

At least we scored. Small victory.
  • 2023 Week 2: UC Davis @ Oregon State
I just hope we can avoid a shutout at this point. Hard to believe that UC Davis is ahead in time of possession. 16:29 to 13:01. Just shows how fast the Beavers can score.
  • 2023 Week 2: UC Davis @ Oregon State
I'll be watching a DVR from the Pac-12 network starting 30 minutes after kickoff so I can fast forward through the commercials :) I'll be in real time by the fourth quarter.
  • Wild World of Realigment
I predict that it won't be long before there are only two major football conferences, each with 16 teams whose champions meet in a big final bowl game at the end, maybe after some kind of playoff system. I know that sounds like the NFL, but why not? It's practically a pro sport now. If that ever happens, I would like to see the Pac-12 re-form as a non-football conference so the swimmers, baseball players, gymnists, etc. aren't flying across the continent for half their seasons.
  • 2023 Week 2: UC Davis @ Oregon State
I imagine that Fresno State gets a lot of community support the same way that fans out here in Hawaii support the Rainbows: they're the only game in town.
  • Wild World of Realigment
I think the Beavers and the Cougars should join the Mountain West. The MWC is not a power conference, but it makes sense geographically in an era when geography doesn't make sense. Cal joining the ACC is stupid and seals the deal for me on giving up on Cal sports. After this season, UC Davis will get my undivided attention, which was formerly split between my alma mater and my father's.
