I'm showing my age here, but the place I rented cost me a fourth of $200 a month.

What I find a bit ironic about this game is that on an academic level UC Davis and the University of Washington are equal in that both are among a rare number of large state universities that generate a high level of research, grant the doctorate, have a medical school and a law school. This is a subcategory of the Carnegie 1 classification, yet on the football field this is a mismatch. I haven't researched this, but I think UCD is the only public university at this level with an FCS football program.

All I know is that UW took credit for it and so did Ron Weller, the former host of Entertainment Tonight who used to be a cheerleader for the Huskies. I always hated it and thank goodness I don't see it much anymore.
  • @ Washington
I saw a few games in Husky Stadium and the fans there are very raucous. That's where the Wave was invented after all. It's a pretty intimidating place to play, so I hope Coach Plough will have his team ready.
  • @ Washington
The spread is 28.5 and not in favor of UC Davis.

Yeah, I know. I lived in Seattle for 8 years. Just trying to be funny. Ironically, today's NFL game was delayed over an hour by a thunderstorm in Philly.
  • @ Washington
So there's a 15-20% chance that this game also will be "No Contest?"
  • Looking forward to 2025
Ags moved up to #5 in the FCS coaches poll, which tells me that all they look at is the final score. Plus two teams previously ranked ahead of us (South Dakota and Illinis State) lost.
  • @ Washington
ESPN has posted no odds yet, but gives the Ags a 3.9% chance of winning.

Thanks for the correction. Sometimes I get too excited about my "discoveries" and don't look them over carefully. I did find a football site that had the Aggies winning 30-13, but dismissed it as just incredible. The more credible sites had no data yet. Live and learn.
  • @ Washington
That was to open, since then it had gpne as high as 15.5.

(Not that I ever bet on football games.)
  • @ Washington
I'm seeing UW favored by 12.5.
  • Looking forward to 2025
The TV guys yesterday mentioned that UC Davis is the only school in the country to open with three road games.

After what happened to me in 1971 I never give up on the Aggie football team. For those newer to this chat group, I left the Cal State Hayward game with the Aggies down by 15 with a few minutes to go so I missed Bob Biggs leading a 16 point comeback in the final two minutes. What I almost gave up on tonight was ESPN+
  • @ Utah Tech
Yes, he got his degree in Design after transferring to Cal. Not sure how that worked exactly, but he must have transferred his final credits back to Davis to complete his degree requirements.
  • @ Utah Tech
Momentum. Even though I'm a psychologist, sports psychology is a completely unique thing and I don't get it. It was clear from both games the Aggies have played this year that momentum can make the same team look awful for more than half a game then somehow turn it all around. Still, credit to the whole program fot not giving up on this one.
  • @ Utah Tech
Rutchena! Great game. Cal finally pays us back for taking Teddye.
  • @ Utah Tech
The video now seems to be working.
  • @ Utah Tech
I was actually able to see that TD run. Great moves by Gbatu. Ags take the lead!
  • @ Utah Tech
If the Ags win, it reflects well not only on the whole team, but on Pinnick who is showing a lot of poise for such a young man in coming back from some bad moments.
