"Was it a radio/TV simulcast? There was nobody up top where Wong/Dunning call the radio broadcast." I don't listen to the radio broadcasts, but I do know that the color for TV was done by Darius Graham.

Yes, Shaq's son is no Shaq. I saw that in the UCSB game. I think there's a reason why he has been at four different schools and it isn't because his talent is in demand. It's clear that he is only starting for one reason. In his four years, he has never averaged more than 6.7 ppg. and his other stats are just as dismal. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/player/stats/_/id/4684156/shaqir-oneal

Yes, I heard Wong say that Scott Marsh was up in Bozeman for tomorrow's game, but I wonder if Bob Williams will be doing any color this season.

Ags won this one purely by sheer hustle at both ends of the court. They held Mikey Williams to 12 points after he got 30 against UCSB. On defense they got 10 steals and 5 blocked shots. They also induced 20 fouls by the Hornets, so they got the margin of victory at the foul line. Sevilla is the real deal. Great game. Always good to see UC Davis beat Sac State.

Except for Sevilla, the Ags are 1 for 17 from 3.

Nothing like a Friday night game of the Causeway Classic to get the students out. The box score gives Rocak only one block, but I counted 3.

The defensive shift worked. Sac State had 24 in the first 10+ minutes, then 12 in the last part of the half. Of course, it helped that the Bear was sitting that whole time.

Aggies settling for too many 3s and not making them. Started doing well on the boards but Hornets have taken over. Coach Les has them in a matchup zone at the 9:22 mark. We'll see how effective it is.

No Scott Marsh or Bob Williams on the broadcast.

ESPN gives the Ags a 79.2% chance of winning. Does anyone know why Nils was not playing against Portland?

Yeah, you're right. I forgot that he does those NBA commentaries for TNT.

I didn't see him at the UCSB game, but then I wasn't looking for him. I wouldn't be surprised to see him in Davis, though.
  • Preview match tonight
The halftime score is due to a made free throw and a desperation 3 pointer by the Hornets all with 3.5 second left. The Gauchos had them down by as much as 13 points.

I don't know how many of you remember Bob Hamilton, but he looked like a maniac at times during games, yelling at the players from the bench and on the bench, throwing towels and chewing on them. I knew a few of the varsity players back then and few of them had a whole lot of love for the man, but he was good coach. He did what he had to do to win. They at least had a lot of respect for him.

I did notice that Wilson played very little in the second half and that Brayden Fagbemi did a lot better at defending Portland's Foxwell. I wonder if that was what coach Les was berating Marcus about?
  • MBB: UC Davis (2-0) at Portland (2-0), Sunday Nov. 9, 2 pm
A disappointing loss for sure. Shooting 7 for 33 from 3 isn't going to cut it. Add 16 turnovers, many unforced, and the guys blow a totally winnable game. The Ags really missed Cooper, but I was impressed by Fagbemi, especially his defense on Foxwell. In fact, I Iike almost all the new guys on the team. We have a ton of depth.

The Pilots freshman, Foxwell, is playing very well. Ags D has kept him from shooting the 3 (1-3 in the second half) and he's dishing out more assists and penetrating like a veteran.

I don't think I've ever heard two ladies doing a men's basketball broadcast before. They're doing a good job.

Ags looking very confused on offense to start the half.

Not sure what happened to Cooper, but no doubt the Ags would have a bigger lead if the was in there. Hope it's not an injury. This game is pretty even only because the Aggies were jacking up too many threes and only hit 20%. The defense, as usual, has been outstanding.
