• Bright Future Ahead for the Aggie Women
Being a total Morgan Bertch fan from Sonoma County where she's from I will say that taking her talents from WBB to the high jump is very rare. The high jump (as in all jumping sports) is risky and dangerous. I don't think most college coaches would allow her near a the jumping pit for fear of injury and damage to WBB team. So hats off to Jen Gross and staff for letting Morgan do her thing. She's the total package athlete and super student in biomedical engineering (and damn good looking). For the world record the women's HJ is amoung the longest lasting records in the sport: 6'10 by Stefka Kostadinova of Bulgaria in 1987 at age 22. Stefka: 5'11" 132.
  • Bright Future Ahead for the Aggie Women
We still need a very quick guard to fill out this team.
  • Sping Football
Sorry, is he coming or not as I cant see any real announcement.
  • Baseball Field to Be Named After Phil Swimley
Do all other BW MBB stadiums have lights? Do cal and Stanford have lights? Frankly, I would. Not go to an aggies night game on the weekend because. . . It would be an issue with a significant other; and I really doubt that a night MBB game would be top of the list for a big date in davis for lots of reasons . Most students would not sit out there in the night cold and watch the slow progress of a MBB game; much better a game in the sun! Lights, not a real good point to advance Aggie MBB. Clubhouse: maybe. . . .IMO
  • Fixing the Aggie baseball team
I recall a few years back (when we still lived in Davis) walking behind a group of Long Beach State baseball fans in town after a game saying: "Wow, actually a great downtown? I love this place. Why aren't they better?" I have no answer to that very good question.
  • Baseball Field to Be Named After Phil Swimley
I loved Swim as a coach. Upbeat and very competitive. But, this program is now in very bad shape. I will not blame the coaches, however we were much better some years back for unknown reasons. I think this program has to be on Blues front burner for fixing. Big west is a VERY BIG MBB league and we are struggling and, frankly, look very weak and unfocused in recent play. Way too many errors lately and poor strategy led to defeats that should not have happened. Cal Poly (who we measure ourselves against) is doing much, much better in all the sports we both play. If CP can do football and all the rest, why cant we? Good luck Dr. Blue.
  • Chima Moneke wins College Insider Riley Wallace Player of the Year Award
Shouldn't we put together a fund raiser to try and bring his folks to davis for a couple of weeks next season? Maybe some sort of web funding thing. . . I think it would pull a lot of support. Better ask China if he is OK with it first.
  • Done with baseball.
    CIRCLE CA THAT IS

NOTED THAT MBB HAS BROUGHT BACK THE CIRCLE C LOGO ON THEIR CAPS OR DID I MISS THIS BEFORE

  • Are sac state and UCSD coming to Big West?
No rumor only because of geography and travel teams.
  • Bright Future Ahead for the Aggie Women
Very impressed with the 3 recruits, especially stoddard. Still think 1 addition of an athletic and quick back court slasher could make us better against LBS and UCSB.
  • Sac Bee Publisher Retiring
Bee today still after LK. This is just a bone it won't give up. Sorry newspaper. We must be one of the few major universities in the country which has a very hostile major newspaper to deal with. And for what end? Crazy.
  • WBB WNIT: UC Davis Aggies (25-7) @ Washington State Cougars (14-19)
Do we really make our kids play during finals?
  • WBB WNIT: UC Davis Aggies (25-7) @ Washington State Cougars (14-19)
Unless it's bad news don't expect coverage from the bee.
  • Les Reportedly to Be Interviewed for Cal Head Coaching Position
Typical cal: les uninspiring what the hell that means?
  • Les Reportedly to Be Interviewed for Cal Head Coaching Position
Cal will never ever hire a UC Davis head coach. Just too demeaning for them. We're safe for now.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (24-7) @ Colorado State (25-8)
I am pretty sure the strategic redshirt notion has come up with the coaching staff. and it might be a good idea especially if we can recruit to one of our present weaknesses: the lack of a very quick and athletic point guard. I love the Eatons a lot and they are very talented, but against the top teams our guards are sometimes simply are not fast enough. plus, we lack a slashing type penetrating presence on the court who could help Nagel do her stuff inside. rebounding is another issue. Now maybe this can be addressed off season. Kourtney can work on speed and Morgan can add some muscle, but these issues are what may be called somethings that cant be coached: speed and rebounding skills/fearlessness and athleticism. Is there a JC player out there who fits that role? that's the question. Plus, with this close nit team I would put it to a vote of the team before making such a move. there is great chemistry there that you don't want to mess with. complicated! Also, I see Nina as a real star next season, so maybe not to worry so much.
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (24-7) @ Colorado State (25-8)
Great win. And again silence from the bee. Not a mention. Sad for the women. BAD Road selection AFTER 5 ROAD GAMES would be a story for any other paper but the bee
  • WBB WNIT: Aggies (24-7) @ Colorado State (25-8)
Very bad indeed. What have we played 5 straight away games? I don't think gross expected the double-triple teams on Bertch today. And those Swedish girls are toughies, you betcha. But we will be prepared next time. 3 on 1 means 4 on 2, so theres a few plays to be made off of that situation.
