• Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
Hastings has gone downfield seldom, whether it’s a coaching decision or his reads/preference. When he has gone deep, including last year, he has not been accurate.

After seeing Gale pull away from the defensive back last Saturday, I would consider making him a wide receiver. Big body and tall - could grab 50/50 balls.

I've been told Bobcat Stadium is a good place to watch a game:

I’ll let you know. My wife and are headed to Bozeman one week from tomorrow. Hopefully our vividseats tickets (what a disaster so far) will come through. I have been on the bobcat nation board and they have been very nice including offering tickets or guiding me if vividseats craps out. One of the guys said they had a lot of respect for UCD but if I were from U of M or Eastern Washington I would be on my own regarding tickets :-). I told him most Aggies had the same feeling about all 3 (and in the context of the HCs at UM and EWU).

They told me to stop by for tailgating. I hope it is as good or nearly as good at in Fargo (2019) where the fans were great and so was the tailgating. I am not a big fan of indoor stadiums so the Fargo dome was not my favorite venue to see the actual game.

correct. No replays. The production isn’t the greatest. I wish the camera angle was better but I suppose limited by stadium height. The Dakota schools have much better production but ESPN+ is getting their Midco sports feed.

I got to wondering why the Aggies didn’t try that 2 pt conversion formation last week in Brookings. With TT at wildcat QB and the spreading of the offense (with obligatory spreading of defense to cover) it looks almost impossible to stop. I am not sure who is eligible in that formation. Kind of wonder why they “wasted” it last night other than maybe to practice it in a live game.

They mentioned Buchanan was out first thing on the TV cast. Kind of weird because I didn’t see him injured at the SDSU game.

I too notice Eaton being more active. It seems after a stellar freshman year he bulked up for his new position and just didn’t seem to be as fast/active. It really looked like he was mentally committed last night.
  • Week 4: Weber State @ UC Davis
well I think there could be some perspective put on the Utah State game. The only win Utah State has is against Connecticut who is awful. Utah State had 4 turnovers in that game. This is not to say Weber played a very good game and will be very stiff competition - their D is always very good - but the (Cal) Aggies - rather than the Utah State Aggies are going to be the best team they have faced this year. I had the pleasure of seeing Utah State beat BYU with Steve Young at QB in Logan in 1982 when I was getting a Master’s there. Was snowing and the place went wild.

Gonna need him (Rex Connors) and hopefully Buchanan back for the next 2 weeks. They are difference makers. Tattersall looked like he had a good game as well as Smalley. I believe one of those two got the start to replace Buchanan.

Scott Gordon was outstanding doing the commentary alongside Scott Marsh. His knowledge of the game and articulate comments after each play were very insightful. Really, really good!

Totally agree. What a nice surprise to have a very insightful and articulate person for commentary. I don’t know his background. When I googled him all I can up with is a former UC Davis golfer who made the PGA tour?

Run defense has not looked good the second half.

    Great play call.

Second straight time allowing the edge to that running qb.

Seems like pass was under thrown again. Get it up where Castles can pluck it.
  • Week 3: San Diego (1-1) @ UC Davis (0-2)
Slightly underthrown but good recognition on free play.

    Now getting conservative.
  • Week 3: San Diego (1-1) @ UC Davis (0-2)
that was a long attempt and 2 over 40 attempts that hit the upright isn’t terrible. But need to start making those.
  • Week 3: San Diego (1-1) @ UC Davis (0-2)
The weak spot of the defense has been over-rushing on blitzes and wide open mid range passes as a consequence.

Didn’t hook it enough. Plenty of leg.
