Tremendous speed for Portland State on offense.

  • Week 10: Idaho State (1-7) @ UC Davis (4-4)
Halloween man...just stay out of cars.

"Guillory will be allowed to continue playing football with the Bengals, ISU said, pending the results of a blood test to determine his blood-alcohol content. That will determine whether Guillory was above the legal limit of 0.08% blood-alcohol content. It could take two to four weeks to come back, police said"

I'm reading here that the family name Skattebo is of Norwegian descent, and O'Hara is obviously from Zimbabwe.

Sorry, the name Skattebo peaked my interest as to its origins.

Of the more interesting names for the Aggies, I'm coming across some cool facts:

RB Jeremiah Chukwudobe, who had a nice run in the 4th quarter vs. Poly, is cousins with Jets WR Quincy Enunwa (former Nebraska standout). Nigerian origin that means "the great god", derived from Igbo chi "god, spiritual being" and úkwú "great". In traditional Igbo belief Chukwu is the supreme deity and the creator the universe. Christian Igbo people use this name to refer to the Christian god.

DL Michael Ambagtsheer has a common American variation of the Dutch/Flemish surname Ambachtsheer.

OL Nico Sarale is now a distinctly Californian name according to ancestry.com - it has been traced for 1000 years going back to the UK, but the Sarale folk nowadays almost solely reside on the west coast, especially California. in 1940, all the Sarale's in America were farmers. Sarales were recorded in history as some of the first European settlers of the United States.

    Other Notables:
OL Connor Pettek, originally Poetek...Polish origin.
WR Lance Babb II, Anglo-Latin-Greek origin
    DL Noa Masui, Japanese origin
Ernesto Nava, Spanish origin (Hebrew as well)

A lot of English/Irish, some Polynesian, couple of French, one Armenian, Italian, West African and Spanish surnames as well. Interesting mix.

Scatebo is a problem. He runs like a lunatic.

    24-7 now Sac
  • Week 9: Cal Poly (1-6) @ UC Davis (3-4) Battle for the Golden Horseshoe
3-4, got a rival coming into town, must win game, how are they not laser focused at the moment, both sides. Expecting rock 'em sock 'em robots down there, QB Play and turnovers are going to be big. I'm curious if Davis will try to establish a running game, fire the guns early and get Hastings hot, or just mix it up. Offensive play-calling in the first quarter of any rivalry game is always interesting.

I actually give a little credence to Montana beating South Dakota, who just beat Southern Illinois, but it was only the Yotes' 2nd win this season so feels less impactful.

Ags really needed that win vs. Weber...that's going to haunt them.
  • Week 9: Big Sky Schedule and Scores
Different year same story, the inability to split or otherwise beat most of the playoff caliber teams on the schedule is what's keeping Davis out of the hunt. A win this week puts Davis at 0.500, fhat's 4-4, with zero quality wins. That's a big statement too, because Cal Poly has got nothing to lose and will throw shots all night this Saturday.

Poly's game vs. EWU last week:

    4 teams on Bye, wow

Also, learning that Idaho's success is largely attributed to the return of new Head Coach Jason Eck, who was running South Dakota State's offense the past few years.
