Hard Knocks spoiler: #Raiders are waiving WR Keelan Doss, source says. They’ll try to get him to the practice squad but he’ll have to clear waivers first.

  • MBB 2019-20 Non-Conference Schedule Announced
Don't we always have crappy non conference home schedules?

I presume we will always be in this position in the future unless we turn into a Gonzaga type of caliber.
  • MBB Signs 3 New Players
I guess that makes it seven people now.

    1. Malcolm Johnson
    2. Kennedy Koehler
    3. Ezra Manjon
    4. Elijah Pepper
    5. Aaron Murphy
    6. Oliver Gehrke
    7. Wesley Harris

Then there are two other people who have redshirted this year:

    1. Cameron Ba
    2. B.J. Shaw

That's a whole plethora of people that I have no idea on who will make an impact on the team next year.

Does anyone want to crack a guess based on their highlight videos or the like?
  • Bertsch drafted by the Dallas Wings
I must admit that my first thought when I found out that Morgan got drafted was, "the WNBA still exist? "

I'm surprised that no one on this board gave a heads up that Morgan can potentially get drafted.

All of a sudden the WNBA looks interesting to me.
  • MBB Big West Conference Tounament March 14-16
Is it a safe bet that next year's seniors will not ask for a tough preseason schedule next year? I presume a tough preseason this year backfired.
  • WBB NCAA Tournament
Darn. This pairing is what I have expected, but I'd rather be wrong. Back in 2011, I thought UCD should have been a #14 seed instead of a #16 seed playing against #1 Stanford.

I've been somewhat bitter ever since.

The only silver lining is that our chances of playing Stanford next year in the first round have decreased due to this:

"Rematches of previous years’ tournament games should be avoided, as well."
  • WBB Big West Conference Tournament March 12-16

    http://www.ncaa.org/about/resources/media-center/womens-basketball-selections-101-bracket

    I found this part interesting:

The committee also will attempt to assign each team to the most geographically compatible regional.

    Step Five

These additional considerations also are made: If possible, rematches of regular-season games should be avoided in the preliminary rounds. Rematches of previous years’ tournament games should be avoided, as well. And after examining the previous five years’ brackets, teams or conferences will not be moved out of their natural region or geographic area an inordinate number of times.

If I interpret this correctly, then I guess it's still possible we can play at Stanford in the first round since we've played at Stanford in the preseason instead of the regular season.

I'd be surprised if UCD is sent out of the western geographic area although I wouldn't mind.
  • WBB Big West Conference Tournament March 12-16

My guess is that UCD will play away at Stanford, Oregon, Oregon State or an outside chance at Gonzaga. The selection committee loves regional games for the first round.

    I'm hoping away at Gonzaga.
  • WBB Big West Conference Tournament March 12-16
Great adjustments in the second half. However, I don't have enough basketball knowledge to know what UCD has done differently. Can someone tell me why UCD dominated in the second half but not in the first half?
  • Former Sac State Coach Behind New College Admissions Fraud Case
They survive and thrive very well since I presume it's all about connections and money at that level (ie. George W. Bush, the Trump family, Jared Kushner, as well as people who don't support their views.) As long as you have money and power, the rules are so biased in your favor that a very rich and elite mediocre student can succeed in life more easily than a very smart poor student who can't afford to go to college.
  • BWC tournament draw
If we win against Fullerton, then I think the top remaining seed plays against the lowest remaining seed. Someone needs to confirm this.
  • MBB 3/9 5 pm DH Senior Game: Riverside (9-22 & 3-12) @ UCD (11-18 & 7-8)
gauchodan is projecting #6 UC Davis vs. #3 Cal State Fullerton on the Big West boards if all of the leads hold.
  • MBB 3/7 7 PM: Hawai'i (16-12 & 7-7) @ UCD (11-17 & 7-7)

We were one of the stat leaders in the country at the free throw line early in the preseason.
  • Aggies Sweep Players of the Week Award
The problem with the bracketology in the women's bracket is that I think there is bias towards regional pairings in the first round than their true seed.

I'm still somewhat bitter the year when UC Davis was paired with Stanford for a #1 vs. #16 match up when UC Davis was clearly better than a #16 seed that year.
  • Big West Tournament Seeding Prospects
I presume you got this information from gauchodan's post from the Big West board.

I think it's more realistic that UCD will get a 4th, 5th, or 6th seed.
I personally prefer a 6th seed, since I don't want to face UCI in the second round if the marbles end up that way.
On the other hand, I'd prefer a higher seed just to improve team morale.

To get a third seed, exactly five games have to go our way. I find that as less probable.

  • 2018-19 Causeway Cup
I'm curious on the rounding error for the beach volleyball games. If UCD sweeps all three games, are we rewarded 5.01 points total?

It would be awesome if we beat Sac by 0.01 at the end of the year.
  • Increasingly Frustrated With CA Logo
I actually hate any name that would increase people's chances of calling us "California Davis Aggies," "Cal Davis," or the like. Therefore, I agree with GoAggies for a different reason.

I think names like "Cal Aggie Marching Band-Uh!," logos that start with a "C," or the like just adds into people's confusion.

Edit: I just read ucdavisaggie05's above post which sounds similar to mine.
