• Bison QB goes #3 to the 49ers
Update: Trey Lance now expected to start today.
  • @ Mercer to Open 2025
Stream of consciousness post, here we go….

Heads up to those thinking about traveling to this game - Montgomery is a little over a 2-hour drive from ATL (depending on Atlanta traffic of course), 4 hours from BNA/Nashville, or 2.5 from PNS/Pensacola, so the game could be the bookend to a larger trip. ATL is likely the best bet given both the option for the game to move to Macon (a little over an hour southeast of ATL) and flight availability, but if you’re thinking about heading in via BNA give me a shout.

Additionally, for those looking to add more sports, and depending on your arrival location, the Braves host the Mets that weekend, the Nashville Sounds (AAA affiliate of the Brewers) are home as well, but the Montgomery Biscuits (AA affiliate of the Rays) are on the road. The Falcons and Titans may have a home preseason game that Friday, the former more likely than the latter since Atlanta will have 2 home preseason games this coming season.

I’ve also begun to look into hotels and there are a number of options in Montgomery depending on chain and desired amenities. Downtown is a little over a mile west of the stadium (borderline walkable depending on weather). Per the 2024 information, parking is anywhere from free to $20, with a shuttle service provided as well. Alternatively, there are two hotels within a block of Mercer’s stadium in Macon.

It looks like the matchup is officially announced in February or March, with ticket information to be announced at a later date (the date of which I have not been able to track down). 2024 information is still posted on the game’s website. Highlights include sponsorship packages with GA tickets starting at $2,500 (hmmm…), GA tickets going for $20, and VIP options (field suite with GA tickets to lounge and suite opportunities) listed at $70 to $100 per person (the latter if a group of 50 can be cobbled together).
  • Bison QB goes #3 to the 49ers
Whoa, a blast from the past.

Since we’re on the topic…I don’t understand why the Cowboys are running Cooper Rush out there in Week 18 when they have nothing to play for (aside from draft positioning), and Jerry traded a fourth round pick for Lance whose contract expires at the end of the season.
  • @ Mercer to Open 2025
That would be more applicable for Mobile - Montgomery is about 140 miles from the Gulf.
  • @ Mercer to Open 2025
Shorter trip than Mobile but I’m not overtly excited about mid/high 90s and humidity in either location.
  • Stadium Renovation hopes, fears, expectations
I’m onboard with filling in one berm with seats but the bottom of that section should feature field level or bunker suites or group/party areas that are have recently become popular.

YES, a team store is a must. Really like the idea of wine and/or beer corners.

If an upper deck is added, to both add capacity and shade opportunities it should go along the west sideline.

Someone mentioned a play structure - absolutely, need to keep young-but-not-so-young alums and fans (and their families) at the games. Walking the concourse only works for so long. Place it in a location where the game is still viewable.

Also, I haven’t been to the stadium since it’s popped up, but doesn’t the Chancellor have some kind of temporary lounge setup in the NW corner? Might want to make that a permanent feature.

Would it be so much to ask to not have fake grass? Especially with the likely possibility that some of the early games will not be the 7pm variety, it seems like something that needs to be at least thought about before being tossed aside.

Lastly, adding barstools and a food/drink rail at the top of the 100s would be a good and inexpensive add, assuming that it does not impede the width of the concourse for ingress/egress.

I’m sure more thoughts will come to me.
  • To make Pac-12, Sacramento State needs the right football coach. That’s just the start." Bee article

As you can imagine, given the success of our athletic programs that our football head coach job is an attractive role.

    Wait…what?
  • UC Davis joining MW for all sports except for football paves a clear path to FBS membership
Selfishly I want the Ags to delay the announcement of going FBS since the title game will relocate to Nashville for the next two years. :cheer:

    Time to reload!
  • UC Davis joining MW for all sports except for football paves a clear path to FBS membership
I hope their donors pivot - I would like to beat Slack in-conference in every sport.

A little shy of 4 weeks to post more renderings on X and fundraise, ready…go.
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
Agreed. Kids get Disney+, wife gets Hulu, and I get ESPN+. W’s across the board.
  • Hey just found the site! Go Ags!
Surprised Rocko didn’t use that rendering. Aggie/Husky Stadium mash-up.

Chris Kelly, haha, it’s been ages….

In my eyes, this means a move for football to the MWC is a matter of when not if. This is the kick in the pants for fundraising, the context of which wasn’t included in Rocko’s tweet back in September, to get there. Stadium capacity and the number of scholarships will need to increase before that occurs (note: more than those needed for football to remain compliant with Title IX, unless we’re slashing a men’s sport).

The Big West hasn’t really been a good geographical fit for a while with everyone outside of Poly, still a good distance away (and Hawaii), a short bus ride distant from one another. This gets the Ags back with former rival UNR, gets into the Bay Area, San Diego, Las Vegas, Phoenix, a foot into Texas (barely) with UTEP, and again a trip to Hawaii. Also, as mentioned earlier, I imagine this makes OOC scheduling for non-football sports with other D1 schools in the area (Cal, Stanford, Santa Clara, St. Mary’s, Pacific, USF) more appealing for said schools.
  • Week 13: 70th Annual Causeway Classic
All I have to say is

    Saaaaaaaaac 12, Saaaaaaaaac 12

1-7 since their big press conference if I remember the date correctly.
  • Week 13: 70th Annual Causeway Classic
A hornet is a glorified mosquito, regardless of whatever conference it aspires to join.

    Go Ags. Beat Slack State.
  • 2024 Week 12: #2 Montana State (10-0) @ #4 UC Davis (9-1)
All other conference foes have at least two conference losses, so in that scenario the Cats would have the tiebreak with us (assuming we beat Slack) and the Griz would still have two losses.
