• SAC ST Coach OUT
Have you been to the University of South Carolina or the University of Kentucky? THE USC is definitely not small with over 38,000 students. The university is blocks away from the state capital and has a very large footprint. Vandy is smallish with a bit over 13,000 students but Kentucky has almost 36,000 students. Our two oldest children graduated from South Carolina however when our daughter was in high school we visited a number of SEC schools while she was being recruited to play soccer. Most of the schools are pretty impressive.

Damn sorry I forgot. Okay they can play at the Christian Brothers field.

Perhaps Dr. Delusional will opt to start a new conference with the likes of UMass, Ball State, Louisiana-Monroe, UNC Charlotte, Akron, Georgia State, Oregon State, and Oklahoma State. The league could be sponsored by Flex Tape (which does not work lol) and Sac can play their games at a local junior high school field.

My last year was 1986 and if I recall it was named the Causeway Classic in '82 or '83.

Hey but at least the MAC is Varsity and not JV's!
  • Idaho State @ UC Davis
I agree. When a team rotates quarterbacks, it makes the defense's job a bit easier. Often times teams will have a QB who is a running threat and another who is a decent passer. Put the runner in and the D knows it's a run 95% of the time. The passer comes in and it's time for the D-line to get after the passer. For me this is just lazy coaching...just trying to do anything to stay competitive when in reality the team is going to get its butt kicked. I saw it playing and coaching. Not often but often enough.

Mattos also talked a lot of crap and the coaches would fill the bulletin boards in Hickey with Mattos' dumb statements. Putting up 50+ year after year still didn't shut him up.

I totally agree. The head coach is only as good as the assistants he surrounds himself with much like the head chef. If the group cannot get the ingredients (players) on the same page it will lead to failure.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
A head coach is like a head chef and the current CFB environment is akin to trying to make a meal with 20 or so ingredients. If you double or triple the ingredient list it becomes much more difficult and unless you have great assistants (sous chefs) it becomes much more difficult and hard to complete an edible meal.

Welcome to the Dirty South! Lived in NC over 30 years and have been to concerts, soccer games, etc. during May through September and scheduling anything after 5p becomes a weather crap-shoot.

It's always great for Club Fred to get some love. I miss sitting in the shade, hearing stories, and then taking it to the O'line.

Not quite apples to apples but two of our children attended the University of South Carolina and during freshman orientation the cheerleaders and student leaders taught them the fight song, school traditions, and the Sandstorm tradition (Sandstorm plays and everyone waves the towels that are given when you enter the football stadium). The towels are sponsored by local businesses and have the date and opponent on them. We have a bunch of them which are great for dusting the house or detailing the car.

Our youngest son is attending the University of North Carolina, Greensboro and despite not having a football team (basketball, baseball, and soccer are big there) freshman orientation included the school cheers, fight song, etc.

Most times of the day there are 8 lanes in each direction with bumper to bumper traffic. I lived in NY for a while and Atlanta traffic makes NYC seem almost rural.

Driving through Atlanta is pure hell and would be worse with a trailer. With the roads still damaged in the NC mountains, it eliminates going through Knoxville and Chattanooga then heading south. I did that drive once after picking my daughter up from soccer ODP camp south of Tuscaloosa. It's a longer drive but eliminated ATL.
  • Ex Aggie Max Arfsten scores for US
Often if you play with 4 in the back, depending on the opponent a coach will give the green light for one to play aggressively and move up the field. The key to this though is the remaining 3 backs need to rotate to cover for the aggressive back. You can also drop a midfielder back.

In Italy's heyday they played this type of game.
