Agreed on both counts. Gotta figure a former starter/Captain from Harvard wouldn't come in to ride the bench. I wouldn't be surprised to see Sabel in one of the starting wing spots by the time the conference season begins.

In other Big West news, Lily Wahinekapu transferred from Fullerton to Hawaii. Averaged 15ppg as a freshman last year.

Was thinking about that this morning, in fact. Guy at another non-sports forum I'm on was talking about all the perks that his daughter would get as a recruited, scholarship cross-country athlete at a P5 school. Seems a little unfair for non-athletes! There's a deeper discussion--to be had over multiple beers--regarding society and athletes, in general, of course. :)

Yeah, that was my initial reaction too given that last year's team went to OT in the semis. That said, last year was a bit of a grind, and it's kind of a new look team (particularly in the front court!), so...fair, I suppose.

G Street closure looks semi-permanent. City installed planters and bollards to beautify the street closure, at least. We've been to Woodstocks a couple times since the closure--I really like that area with the street seating.

Last I read re: UMall was that they are fighting with some of the neighbors on the north side over how tall the building will be.

Also, first WBB practice was today!
