I think they've been smart in piggy-backing on big-name teams coming out to play Stanford (or Cal). Works out nicely for everyone--extra west coast game for [insert team] and a nice OOC schedule for Davis.

Legislative Affairs Office had a paper about potential UC and CSU expansion a year or so ago that estimated "modest" increases (5-10%? IIRC) in enrollment through 2024/25 for the UC system as a whole.

Keep in mind that there are 30k undergrads on campus now!

There are several more large projects underway or in planning, as well: Lincoln 40 on 5th across from Greystone, the 7-story replacement for the frat house next to Quarto, another one or two complexes in South Davis...

The vacancy rate is SO low though; it's going to take a LOT of additional development to make a dent in rents.

About 5200 international undergrads, per the latest UCD stats.

Amazon still holds the lease on that space.

Residential Uses. Redevelopment of the site will introduce four levels of multi-family residential units over parking and retail to create a vertically mixed-use project. The project proposes 264 multi-family residential units. The units will consist of one, two, four, and five-bedroom units ranging in size from 700 SF to 1,800 SF with an average unit size of 1,124 SF, and the total bed count may total 894 beds. The area of the residential portion of the project would be approximately 412,500 SF and a density of approximately 32 units per acre. Residential buildings would be a Type III construction.

Due to the immediate proximity to the University of Davis campus, the residential is primarily focused on student use, but will also welcome and include many options for non-students as well. The residential units will be arranged around a courtyard with a pool and an outdoor lounge area. Additional amenities will include will include a fitness room, extensive bike storage, a bike repair station, rooftop terrace and resident services.

Went in for lunch today with the family. Wasn't particularly crowded, and they were running a reduced menu. Video games and a bunch of the teevs were already gone.

They started out on Lake, next to Lamppost, and then moved to the Chevron on Richards, then to the Mansion, and now the Little Prague building. :smile:

Several UDFA's in that time, though. Making it to/in the NFL via Davis isn't that stunning.

The mobility is a concern for me, too. The offense really thrives on movement--can't have a post that won't/can't run the floor.

I think the guard/wing situation is ok for the next couple years. Several other players got minutes bringing the ball up over the course of this season; their decision making will get a test during the initial parts of the year, but I fully expect things to gel like they did this year once the starting five and top portion of the bench get worked out.

The UC Davis women's basketball program continued to ascend to new heights on Monday, as Head Coach Jennifer Gross announced the addition of 6-foot-6 transfer Lena Svanholm from Colorado State.

"We are so excited to welcome Lena to our UC Davis family," Gross said. "Lena is a very unique player who can run the floor, score inside and shoot the three. Her combination of size and versatility makes her an extremely difficult match-up and we cannot wait to start coaching her.

"She is going to add a new dimension to our team and will be a presence on both ends of the floor. In addition, Lena is a wonderful person as well as a very strong student. She is a tremendous fit here at UC Davis and will definitely help us carry on our tradition of success."

Wow! She'll be sitting this upcoming season due to transfer rules, obviously.
