I think it's a sleeve--she has it pulled up on her forearm in one of the other photos. edit: and she's got a black one on in the photos from last week.

There's was some smoke higher up on my way into work (Davis->Sacto), but nothing down at ground level. Bigger issue will likely be that it is supposed to be very windy.
