ABC News: Transgender teens outrun track and field competitors but critics close behind

"Some parents within Connecticut's high school track and field circle expressed outraged when two transgender students took home top prizes at the state championships for girls.

"Transgender high school sophomores Terry Miller and Andraya Yearwood came in first and second place, respectively, in the 100-meter race at the State Open Finals June 4, angering some parents who complained they had a competitive advantage over non-transgender students.

"Miller, who also won the top prize for the 200-meter race representing Bulkeley High School in Hartford, and Yearwood were born male, but they now identify as females."

When did this 'gender' issue take off 3, 5 years ago?
  • Jenner says transgender girls in women’s sports is ‘unfair’
This new issue / fad can have some very serious consequences if we continue to glamorize it.

Twenty years ago I watched a program on a man who had a complete sex change, then underwent counseling, figured out he had some form of gender dysphoria, and had a sex change operation to go back. I believe medical professionals say the brain isn't fully developed until 25.

Washington Post featured a transgendered athlete who broke nine world weightlifting records at one meet, at 45.

"“What a day, 9 for 9!” she [Mary Gregory] posted. “Masters world squat record, open world bench record, masters world dl record, and masters world total record! Still processing …”

"“She put down female. Clearly, she’s not a female,” said Paul Bossi, 100% Raw Powerlifting Federation’s president. “Not biologically anyways...."

"Sharron Davies, a retired Olympic swimmer from England, said that “woman with female biology cannot compete” against a “male body with male physiology.”

“Socially I’m for everyone living the way they wish, safely, not harming others but sport is ALL about biology not ideology,” she tweeted...."

"In explaining its decision earlier this year, the [International Olympic Committee] organization said, “Men naturally have a larger bone structure, higher bone density, stronger connective tissue and higher muscle density than women. These traits, even with reduced levels of testosterone, do not go away. While [male-to-female] may be weaker and less [muscular] than they once were, the biological benefits given them at birth still remain over that of a female.” "

So one middle-aged non-athlete male transitioned, and broke 9 world records - at 45, after a year or two?

I'm worried about the confused children who may eventually figure things out, whatever that is, but being pumped full of drugs at 15, or 16, or having your schmedrick cut off when your brain isn't fully developed, would be so tragic.

Then to entice them with fame and potentially hundreds of thousands of dollars in college scholarships? Not to mention adults with their own agendas. We should have common sense along with compassion.

Because men are, generally speaking, biologically stronger than women. Substantially in many cases.

Until he gets his bell rung by a 250 # linebacker. That's the risk.

Sure. But he's had one full year, teams didn't have an off season to drill down. .... Looks like his father may have played DB in the pros, and educated him.

6'3", 320, speed in a low crouch, and summer workouts w propane tanks & water jugs.

"The unconventional workouts also enhanced Meinerz’s functional strength. He couldn’t lift as much weight in traditional exercises, but he felt stronger on the field. He was sturdier in awkward positions, and his wrists and forearms could push defenders."
  • Bison QB goes #3 to the 49ers
That would be great. I also just learned he started one season... so 12, 13 completions a game, 170 yards per (roughly), no picks, 16-0, opponents had no preseason tape on him (like Jake Maier). (15 of 30 w 1 pick in their one game this year.)

Sounds like he and his family made the wise choice to cash in on 16-0... how many years guaranteed does a #3 pick get? I see Garoppolo has a $25M contract per year, but not guaranteed.

Can he make the transition from FCS to NFL? Bigger & faster defenses.

Imagine now. I don't think the MSM covers it much, but writer / blogger Andy Ng (?) does, and certain sections look like a war zone. Apparently most of the politicians support what is going on in one way or another (staying quiet). How can businesses survive?

Didn't something similar happen to the Cal Aggie Marching Banda endowment?

It's the opposite of strength and leadership.

Dobbins Stadium started with Aggie players themselves manually completing some of the preliminary stages in the 1980s. Phil Swimley worked tirelessly, for no extra pay, along with Ralph Rago (sp?) and other community members, donating tens of thousands of hours. Have women's coaches ever done this type of labor?

    Updated, w Gould's 3 last years.

    By winning percentage.

    Hawkins 23-18 (.561) .......16-13 (.552)
    Biggs .....20-24 (.455) .......10-10 (.500)
    Gould .....12-33 (.267) .......10-22 (.312)
    RG-3 yrs....7-26 (.212) .........5-19 (.208)

Gould had QBs Randy Wright, Ben Scott, and the experiment with Jimmy Laughrea (Marsh compared to Ken O'Brien).

Have we ever had a 'serviceable' QB take us to the playoffs?
  • Give Day
Yeeez. I recall the Dobbins family made a sizable donation to finish the baseball stadium, and the campus sat on the money for a long time, maybe years ... one insider claimed the money was being held up due to gender equity politics. My understanding is that the family said, 'Build it, or we want the $$$ back'. In the meantime, construction costs reportedly spiked, so what we could build and add (lights?) was reduced.

Former Berkeley AD Sandy Barbour, w Teresa Gould as a top aide, put Berkeley under mammoth debt and they may cut multiple sports. $100+ Million budget, and Under Armour canceled contracts w them and UCLA.

The interpretation of gender equity is also hurting Olympic sports, especially w the over representation of female students (upwards of 60% on many campuses). Young men are hurting.
