• Stadium Renovation hopes, fears, expectations
We're a lot closer than Toomey, which had the dirt track. And we now have 6-8x the marketing staff, but don't give away free playoff tickets.

I think it's a stretch adding more than 5,000 seats, esp since attendance is no longer a factor. How about add a 5,000-seat grandstand above the visitors side, concessions, bathrooms, and maybe some club boxes? Then we seat 15,000, 20,000 w endzone and general admission. Add some simple amenities... like benches near concessions, and when entering the facility for seasoned Aggies. A few trees (not 4' tall shrubs that will soon die). A grad student produced an excellent study on possible additions to the stadium. Its also kind of weird to see the concessions staff dumping ice onto the pavement near a drain, as if they don't have adequate sinks for that purpose... or at least water nearby plants.

Closing in an endzone is less expensive than going up, but removes a cozy area for young families. If we saved them, we could add in old seat planks from Toomey (less splinters).
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Sacs problem previously included a lack of large private businesses in the area - my impression was that it was government, and agriculture. So the ability to tap large companies in the 60s, 70s, 80s was tougher.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Tough times. Stanford had a weak O line, several are now in the portal along w two QBs. One service ranked their recruiting class #48? And Cal lost Mendoza.
  • Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
Building a new arena, football stadium, related facilities needs, NIL and 50+ new scholarships is a HUGE undertaking. Plus $5M buy in.

He can go to Stanford, likely make more money, and help TT try to salvage his turnaround. What does he have, 2 more years to make it work?
  • Stadium Renovation hopes, fears, expectations
Not sure how an apparel store works at the stadium for 5-6 events a year. Costs have to be considered.

Our guests for the first playoff game said they loved our stadium and the grass berms for families.

Coach Huff will make $950K annually at Southern Miss, and ironically his replacement at Marshall will make $1 M per year.

"His assistant coach salary pool will be $1.75 million, and the support staff salary pool will be $600,000."

He started as a top recruiter, and promises next weekend will be memorable.

“There will be a recruiting weekend next weekend like you've never seen before,” Huff said. “I mean, there's going to be fireworks, there's going to be helicopters, hot air balloons, there's going to be everything like you've never seen before. Not because all that stuff matters, but because those kids are that important to what we're trying to build.”

FWIW, the Marshall HC left his first place team to join in conference, last place Southern Miss. Reportedly most of the team has entered the portal, and Marshall has opted out of a bowl game.
  • MBB: at UC Davis at Sacramento State (2-7), Saturday, Dec. 14, 7:00 pm
TJ only shoots 39% from the field, 22% from 3? Shooting 36% tonight.

Would Vandal nation hire Cody Hawkins / Dan Hawkins away from Idaho State?
  • Looking forward to 2025
Possibly managed by the same folks who didn't publicise our NCAA playoff game / free tickets?
  • Looking forward to 2025
Mascheroni's practice tape looks solid, but we don't see drops / errors. With his 6'4" height he was grabbing some high point throws. It's a balancing act. He was considered a great signing and has 3 years eligibility remaining. No PT didn't help.

Hutton coming back (or paying with) an injury sucked up reps, as did speedster Dobbins. FTR, I would have tried to get Dobbins a few more reps given his speed.
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
Yes, QB Scott Barry. I recall a few fumbles. We had a strong stretch there from 82 - 85, O'Brien - Barry - Petersen.

I don't think so, besides, outsiders will figure this was a fluke year w a top FBS back, and a 6th year QB. This was a fantastic start, but next year reality sets in.
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
If I recall, we had a lot of TOs in Texas at the DII national championship.
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
    - 4 on Takeaways, no LL for 3 quarters sealed our fate. Some costly penalties, too.

We have to replace a lot of key players. MH, Hutton, Toki, Meyer...
  • Quarterfinals Week 16: UC Davis (11-2) @ South Dakota (10-2)
I thought it was odd starting our first drive with a cute play to LL at QB, which surprised nobody. The fake punt was great.
