They appear to have a number of young RBs all doing well, and a senior mobile QB who might have one Covid year left.

We ocassionally added extra bleachers at Toomey, esp after end zone bleachers started to fail.

So they're vulnerable to the pass and run games.

In the great 2018 season we were 10-3 - two losses to EWU, and one loss to Stanford.

They buried us the first game, but we went toe to toe w them in the playoffs, eventually losing 34-29 in frigid weather. They scored 20 points in the 4th quarter keyed by Eric Barriere.

We had Ullonzo Gilliam (143 yds rushing), Doss (9 receptions, 143 yds), Jake Maier, but we threw 2 picks.

Arguably our best FCS team.

Same fun late one night during finals, 1AM, in the Undergrad. Very sad when campus powers took that space back for book storage when they remodeled and expanded the library.

Several people here have had the same revelation. Many missed the opening game w few students, or a Thanksgiving game. The snack bar and bathrooms were minimalist, and we had a dirt track!

Actually, 7-10K attendance wasn't typical - those were big games, no midterm weekends, not 3-day holiday weekend, and not pre season. There were (are) lots of variables.

Yeah, I have to explain to my relatives how our players are actually true student athletes, go to class, study engineering and biology, and are rarely accepted with a sub 3.0 GPA.

It seems the Big West could market itself better. Instead of Vegas for the BB tourney, why not rotate it to a different site every year? Or two campus sites? Home sites should see some boisterous sellouts which are great for TV.

I retract my previous comments about EWU and No Colorado being likely wins.

EWU is dangerous at home, and don't be fooled by their record. They've lost three games by 4 points or less, and battled Montana. This is also their Honecoming game. This will be a battle, and good preparation for our tough ending schedule.

I really hope we keep Dobbins ACTIVELY in the mix, and insert Fisher for a few carries in Crunch time. Semi amateur opinion here, but he seems to have a different gear, hits the hole fast, and sometimes those little guys are tougher to spot. I don't think we've had a back like him. We need playmakers. I think both fill the bill.

We're having trouble running the ball, we need to try something new. We're going to have battles inside the 5-yard line at season's end, and having a formidable fullback would give us another option besides double TEs and Wildcat.

Idea: do we have a brusing FB to clear space for LL? Should we try Nick Afato (LB, 225) or Rex Connors (210)? Think about Afato... he played QB in high school, while Connors came to mind when I saw him return his pick 6. He's an athlete. Even if Afato is a decoy, play him against No Colorado, he gets on tape.

Idea #2 Amone (300#s) or Toki (375#s) at FB ala Fridge Perry.

No sport pays for itself. For decades, Aggie football has brought the campus acclaim, not UCLA level, but not peanuts either. An acquaintance once told me, "I know Davis for agriculture, viticulture, and great small college football."

When Rolf Benirschke was lauded on Monday Night Football by Howard Cosell, and Aggie football was covered yearly in the San Francisco Chronicle and Sports Illustrated, few had such criticisms.

Schools without football often have an even worse gender imbalance. Where are the State and Federal programs to increase male enrollment?
