I think the most striking point in that graphic is that if Davis were to beat Stanford, they are predicted to have a 57% chance of beating Auburn/BYU and moving on to the Sweet 16. If the other 15 seeds were to win, they have projected chances of 10%, 16% and 19% to advance to the Sweet 16.

I just got an email from UC Davis Alumni & Affiliate Relations, tickets purchased through Aggie Tickets. Maybe I'll see some of you at the game.

We live about 20 minutes from Stanford, so it's an easy trip for us. My son (11) and I made it to the football game this year, too. Don't give him a hard time if you see him in his Stanford hat... His flag football team was the Cardinal a few years back, and after attending a few events at Stanford, he's a fan. Fine by me, if he can get accepted with a scholarship ;-)

I was at that 2005 football game! What a day that was. And I'm still pissed we dropped the wrestling program. But I'm excited to see what Derek Moore and Lennie Zalesky can do down at Cal Baptist as they transition the program to D1.

Back to women's basketball... Go Ags!

I'm curious, if they would have crushed Hawaii, would it have made any difference? Or is it simply that UCD is simply the local team and just like that SB Nation article says, "The committee winds up prioritizing geography because the support for women’s college basketball teams is still growing, and making games as accessible as possible is a way to make sure people are actually there."

All that being said, I'd like to try to attend the game. I just need to prioritize the UCD/Stanford game with watching the NCAA wrestling tournament finals with my nephew Saturday afternoon ;-)

This is a collection of all of the data since the 2010/2011 season. I think this Irvine team is the one of the best BW teams in a long time. When those lower seeds won the tournament, the regular season champs had pretty poor records.

ESPN bracketology was updated this morning. No change, still a 14 seed. On the men's side, Irvine moved up one spot to a 13 seed.

I like how they are shutting Drammeh down. That kid was so cocky in the first matchup.

That graph looks completely incorrect. Looking at the website below, I come up with an average salary for any title with "coach" of $46K in 2017. The average head coach salary is $92K.

    https://ucannualwage.ucop.edu/wage/

Edit: I emailed the author, response below:

"I pulled the salary data of the coach directly, through the state’s Transparent California portal. As a coach, with benefits, any bonuses, and other income, he made that $237,000.

Also…our example was for the Sac State coach, not UC.

The “average salary” system takes into account salary only. It does not factor in other wages or benefits. Added to that, it’s the average across all the coaches. Not just from the singular coach. It’s not uncommon for these systems to pay benefits and other wages on top of salary for the remainder of the contract. Not just for Sac State but all schools. It’s been done across the state and the NCAA."

Not a "team" national championship, but Derek Moore did win UCD's only D1 national championship in 2007. Not only national champ, but undefeated and voted most outstanding wrestler of the tournament. Too bad Davis dropped the program.

What's the deal with TJ's knee? It looks like he's limping around on it quite a bit. Why not pull him out earlier and let him rest?

What is going on with UCSB? They beat a very good USF early in the year, then barely beat Davis, and lose 81-60 to Fullerton last night.
