• MBB: Seattle (8-2) at UC Davis (5-4), Wednesday Dec. 17, 6:00 pm, ESPN+
we had a pretty good angle on the play (and could see the replays on radio broadcasts screens) and that was bad, especially given the circumstances. On radio Les said maybe they could have fouled earlier to take away any chance of a call like that but you don’t want to give them too much time to set up. Radio guys were stunned. BLUEGoldAg was beside himself!

As AgAlum pointed out, make FTs and we win. And second chance points killed us, especially after a really good defensive effort.

my 92-year old mom was down Sunday for an early Christmas with grandkids and asked ‘what does this 6-7 thing mean?’

    ‘It doesn’t mean anything, gramma’

‘Yes, but, what does it mean?’

This went on for about 10 minutes.

Unfortunately, we’re going up against the 68 Ventures Bowl tonight and that will put a dent in attendance!
  • The offseason - Looking forward to 2026
thanks. I thought I heard that the most of the grad transfers didn’t but maybe because they didn’t finish their degree until end of spring.
  • The offseason - Looking forward to 2026
I don’t think transfers are allowed to participate in spring ball, but that may have been with the later portal dates. Maybe it was just the grad transfers who couldn’t since they can only enroll in the fall?

Oddsmakers have us an underdogs from 2.5 to 4.5 points. The one i read that had us at 4.5 underdog had their best bet as take Seattle and give the points -> they were stressing our last game as a strong reason for that.

We'll be there tonight; not expecting a big crowd.

I can answer the last one -> it will be in April again.
  • Conner brothers eligibility lawsuit
I believe the gist of the lawsuit has to do with their potential future earnings that losing a year takes away.

I can’t figure how the NCAA can say ‘oh yeah, JC play now doesn’t count’ but toes the line on a situation like this.
  • UC Davis alum Teddye Buchanan named NFL defensive rookie of the month
yesterday really seemed bad. I just caught a glimpse of ESPN reporting on it - looked like a non contact injury covering a punt.
  • Conner brothers eligibility lawsuit
At Plough's last lunch, he said the NCAA sited precedence about (i think) a volleyball player in a similar situation. What's crazy to me is that the NCAA's stance on eligibility seems so fluid in most cases, but so rigid here. Last year, they decided that JC years didn't count because a player threatened a lawsuit. What's the justification besides trying to avoid a lawsuit?

That being said....if Rex's injury was an ACL, how confident should we be that we would be physically ready for next season?
  • 2025 FCS Playoffs
I tend to agree with you about Pinnack, but i know these kids (they are still kids in my mind) are getting pulled in all sorts of directions. I think Mendoza getting the Heisman after his tutulage from Plough would, hopefully, help him see that a year or more here would really help his development.
  • MBB UC Davis (5-3) at Oregon (4-5), Saturday Dec. 13, 1 pm, on Big 10 Network
I was watching the first 10 minutes or so from in the tailgate area, and it looked rough. These upper tier team have so much more length than us that they can completely shut us down on offense. Sevilla and Cooper especially had problems. Then Oregon couldn't miss a shot from the outside (or inside).so it got out of hand really quick!

On the positive, Carl Daugherty returns and plays well.

Let's hope we play better at home on Wednesday. Seems like a month since we've seen the Ags at home.
  • Transfer Portal
the whole 'Athletic area' of Davis has so much potential. The football stadium is a nice facility that stands out. The proposed upgrades to the basketball arena will make that a really special spot. Add, the updates to baseball/soccer and softball, and its really neat to have an on-campus sports area. If we can get a Grad replacement in the updated shopping area that would be a cool spot for Aggie fans.

We just have to find more Aggie fans from the region!
  • Transfer Portal
I was disappointed for the players and coaches after last night, but very optimistic about our future. I just wish we had a couple more healthy guys on defense last night. I think we can see that we’re on par with the upper tier of FCS and on the doorstep of elite programs.

After some long discussions with my family. I’d like to announce I WILL be back as a season ticket holder next year and beyond.

    Go Ags
  • FCS Playoffs Quarterfinals: Illinois State (10-4) @ #8 UC Davis (9-3)
it was a big turnabout especially when they hit us on a 93-yard TD. Huge swing
  • SAC ST Coach OUT
that’s how I understand it. I suspect there’s some of that going on in Sac (FBS uncertainty, schedule issues). Best decision Dan could make, by the way.

hopefully you didn’t use the bathroom behind 123 - no lights! Urinal use by ear!!

I was thinking on the drive home that I don’t recall us ever substituting defensive groups during the game. Same approach whether it was 1st and 10, 3rd and 1 or 3rd and 15 - Coombs had I choice except keep the remaining healthy guys out there and play a pretty vanilla scheme. Losing Pysk, along with Sam’s limitations, was too much. That being said, take away that damned kickoff and convert in the red zone, and that puts a bit more pressure on QB.

Great season. Great group of players and coaches.
  • SAC ST Coach OUT
This has a real Gould like feel. Big groundswell for a successful coach with ties to the program (Hawkins in our case) bypassed for a position coach with a reputation for recruiting. That move turned over football alum for a long time here.
