• Sac State's bid for the Pac 12 Thread
You are yelling at the wind at this point. Nobody on this board is satisfied with mediocracy or stagnation.
Don't hold your breath if you want the Davis athletics department to blow up the football program and make a bunch of ridiculous hires and replace entire rosters to mirror the "success" (lol) of Sac State. I'm really not sure what you are expecting here..... What do you actually want to happen?

Rocko has put Davis in a great position to move to the FBS when we have the $, and basically when we want to. This is smart, not desperate. I'm sure Sac doesn't want to be in the position they are in...I'm sure they'd have loved Taylor (who knows if he'd have kept himself out of trouble by this point) to still be around and building for an FBS move at their leisure.

I'm not saying things are perfect, but I'd guess a good majority on this board believe the AD is making positive progress- especially with the recent success of the football program. There are many Universities ADs would love a staff like Plough has going right now. This is what Sac is flailing at trying to achieve right now...

With all this said, I do think some things need to be added to the men's basketball program, and quickly. That program is stagnant.

Sac State is acting in reckless desperation.

We are not going to start behaving like Sac State. Go grab your Sac season tickets, there are plenty available! They'd love to bring you aboard.
Stop with the D2 talk, its getting annoying.

The fact is, Davis is on an upward trajectory and doing all the right things.

The CA Tahoe logo is pretty cool though. I'd buy a t-shirt, or tank for summer....

But we'll never see anything like this in the bookstores based on previous history......

    Well, this is interesting.....
  • 2026 Football Recruiting
Had an offer from Sac St. as well.....Good sign for the Aggies. He's 5'8" but lightning fast.
  • Looking forward to 2025
I though he got hurt in the Sac game?

totally agree on too much influence from last year’s performance.

With all the new size/talent alone Sac might win a couple more games than that, regardless of the coaching.

Massey has us going 9-3 (6-2 Big Sky) with loses to @ UW, @ Idaho, and @ Montana State.

    I'd take this in a "rebuild/reload" year.

I think a program that commits to their recruits (HS and portal) will do fine.

When HC starts advising kids to transfer because they are being replaced with someone better, the program loses credibility, and fast.

I understand coaching change years are different, and portal activity will be high..... but Marion needs to be careful. I feel like he's not (because Sac is a pitstop).

Time will tell if Marion builds a reputation. The callousness in his handling of their budding star QB Conklin (who had recently reaffirmed his good faith commitment to Sac), is not a good sign, IMO

I see Nava is listed as a grad student. Good to see experience on the o-line. Hasson looks like a great addition.
  • 2025 NFL Draft Thread
Some of Lan's FBS transfer offers...$400-$500k to Mizzou, Vanderbilt, Texas A&M. It turns out the offers were that good.

Plough has done a great job promoting his guys. It will serve him well as a HC.
    Developing people = W's.
  • Sacramento Kings star Mike Bibby to become Sacramento State's men's basketball coach
the Hornets aim to produce a winner in a sport that has managed just two winning seasons since moving from Division II to Division I in 1991.

    Holy crap.....
  • 2025 Football Recruiting
Just saw that on Twitter.....amazing family.
  • 2025 Football Recruiting
I'd rather have a kid like this transfer in from D3 than more than 1/2 the guys Sac has coming in.....
  • 2026 Football Recruiting
Interesting! 2 QBs from Idaho (thanks Lan) and 1 from Utah.

Nobody is defending mediocracy. I don't think I can type the same thing over and over again like this.....lol....please review my previous posts

This is a HIGH SCHOOL coach. He is a vanity hire. Can he lead and build a D1 program? Getting a few NBA players sons and transfers to come to your school is one thing......coaching a D1 basketball team and building a program is another.

Don't hold your breath if you are waiting for Davis to enact short-sighted publicity stunts like this....Davis moves deliberately with a long-term view.

Its important to note: athletics programs that operate like Sac don't give a crap about academics. So, maybe think about the brand you want to slap on your alma mater.

"We are definitely in on (Jaden) being our guy," Marion told CBS Sports. "For us in every room, we want guys who can be draft picks, starters and stars. In every room, if you look at what we are doing in the transfer portal and what we have done with high school recruiting, every single room had that. Except for the quarterback room, we did not upgrade to the level I liked."

I hope Sac schedules Fresno State soon and Conklin puts up 50 pts + 450 yards.
