I’m no doubt biased against Alford. My Iowa roots. He would do well and then falter in the post season.

I was speaking off the cuff, but turns out I was close to the mark.The artidle says the arena expects to be open in three years, which would put Alford at 7 years. His longest held postition was 8. He has a winning recored everywhere he goes, but he goes a lot of places. He has had problems in the post-season.

If Alford is still around when the arena is completed it will be the longest he has ever held a coaching position.

And especially taking someone from another team's practice squad. Not some starter or regular roster back-up....

A friend who graduated from the mother campus referred to this story as a "solution in search of a problem." Is anyone really having trouble identifying the school without having to tack Berkeley onto the name? Sounds like a committee in a bureacracy trying to justify its existence with busy work.

Hard to prepare for the No. 1 team in the nation, (who just defeated No.2 USC, 12-5, at USC) by defeating a junior college and an NAIA team in only its second season ever.

#5 Ags upset by #16 San Jose State this morning, 8-7, in the first game of the Aggie Round-Up.

Hopefully they can do better this afternoon against West Valley College, a community college, and NAIA UC Merced in their second year as a team.
